Monster Raffle Yesterday tickets went home for our monster raffle. This is a fantastic fundraiser for our school, which will pay for improvements to the infants playground. Parents can you please check your child’s bag, then maybe take them to work or your next sporting event in order to sell as many tickets as you can. Tickets and money must be returned to the office. These tickets are very valuable and must be cared for. A second booklet will only be handed out once the original book is returned with the money. All unsold tickets must also be returned to the office. The Monster Christmas Raffle will be drawn at school on Friday the 29th November. Good luck as there are many great prizes to be won! Aerobics Spring Challenge Last Saturday Merewether students competed in School Aerobics Spring Challenge at Hunter Valley Grammar School. Once again we did very well with Paige Kerby obtaining a silver medal in her single division and Merewether Mermaids (Ella Simons, Nathalie Simons, Josie Muggleton-Ryan, Marnie Kisi, Teigan Duggan, Ella McKenzie, Lily Patrick) also gaining a silver. Merewether Magic girls (Isabelle Hickey, Mackenzie Clancy, Maddison Watkins, Imanee Burke, Isabelle Doherty, Lily Donoghoe, Brianna Rope, Sia O’Donell) did very well competing against teams with more experience. Paris McGinty provided a lesson in sportsmanship that made MPS proud. Early on in her routine she landed awkwardly after an impressive jump and rolled her ankle. In that moment she had a decision to make -run off crying (which many girls have done before her) or continue on. Paris continued and completed a remarkable routine. Paige and a few other girls went straight backstage to support Paris which was fantastic to see. We cannot all be winners in sport, we have to accept missing out on medals gracefully and congratulate those who win. Paris showed the epitome of sportsmanship.

P&C Christmas Raffle The tickets for the P&C Christmas raffle have been given out. Each family will be asked to sell one book of 10 tickets. Each ticket will be $5. There will be three Westfield vouchers of $500 to be won. To see the minutes of the last P&C meeting please look at the school Blog. IT Permission notes It is important that all children return the Edublog permission note that was given out last term. Teachers need to know which children are able to have their work and images placed on their class blog. Please hand them in to the office. Kindergarten Orientation Congratulations to the buddies of the new Kindergarten children. You have done a wonderful job helping the young children feel welcomed, comfortable and excited about coming to school next year. Foreign Language Classes Miss Razmovski’s language class has been a great success and very popular. However, it is now full so anyone else keen to learn another language will have to wait until next year. Well done Miss Raz!

Library News

We have some great new series for older readers this week. A set of four books called Tomorrow Girls look really exciting, Percy Jackson - Sea of Monsters as seen at the movies, a new GO girl book called Holiday and the popular Skylanders Universe Lightning Rod are all ready to be borrowed from the library now. Linda Gesling

Headlice Just a reminder for all parents to remain vigilant with checking and treating your child’s hair. If we all do this, they are less likely to spread.
