Birth: 1. When? 13th RAJAB
2. Where? IN THE KA’ABAH IN MAKKAH
How? 3. His mother, FATIMA BINTE ASAD, was sitting near the Ka’abah. She was very tired.
4. After reciting her dua, she raised her head and saw that THE WALL OF THE KA’ABAH SPLIT
OPEN ON ITS OWN .
5. So she went inside! The Prophet’s (saw) uncle Abbas and his companions TRIED TO OPEN THE
DOOR, but they couldn’t! This was a real live
miracle!
6. Imam Ali [as] was born WITH HIS EYES CLOSED. He stayed in the Ka’aba for THREE DAYS.
7. On the fourth day, Imam Ali [as] and his mother came out from the Ka’abah. Who was waiting for
them? PROPHET MUHAMMAD [SAW]. He was the first person Imam Ali [as] saw,
because that was the first time Imam Ali [as] OPENED HIS EYES.
8. What was the first thing Imam Ali [as] said? ASSALAMUN ALAYKUM - this was another miracle!

9. His main title was: AMEERUL MOIMINEEN, which means COMMANDER OF THE
FAITHFUL.
10. Most importantly, he was very CHARITABLE (GENEROUS). At night, he would dress up like a
traveler and walk on the streets. He would GIVE THEM FOOD and sit with them and answer their
questions. He wore clothes with lots of PATCHES, and ate very little.

Imam Ali’s [as] Leadership: 11. Imam Ali [as] became the leader after PROPHET MUHAMMAD [SAW]. He was picked to
be the leader at a place called GHADEER KHUMM.
12. Imam Ali’s Changes as Leader:
a. He got rid of CORRUPT leaders.
b. He never had EXPENSIVE ceremonies or clothes.
c. His main mission was to remove POVERTY.
d. He wanted people to concentrate on the HEREAFTER. How? By PRAYING, giving
SADQAH, and doing GOOD.

e. He never let anyone PRAISE HIM, because that is only meant for All-h [swt].
Imam Ali’s [as] Death: 13. Imam Ali [as] was murdered on 21st RAMADHAN.
14. What happened? In the morning, Imam was going to the mosque for FAJR. He saw many people
still sleeping. One of them was a man named IBN MULJIM.
15. The salaat started and everyone was following the Imam. When he went into SAJDAH, the attacker struck him on the back of his head with a POISONOUS SWORD.
This caused a very deep wound.
16. Imam’s son, IMAM HASAN [AS], finished the salaat as the Imam. The killer was caught and
brought to Imam. Imam said not to TORTURE OR HURT HIM.
17. Imam Ali [as] died 2 DAYS LATER. He is buried in NAJAF (KUFA).

19. He was the first to pray behind PROPHET MUHAMMAD [SAW].
20. He put together the QUR’AN.
