Message from Superintendent Jo Moccia Welcome to the South Whidbey School District. Our district serves approximately 1400 students on the South end of Whidbey Island, Washington. The setting is breathtaking and appreciated for its beauty. In addition to great views, we are surrounded by accomplished artists, actors, restaurateurs, authors, and organic farmers. Our students receive wonderful support from our community and we are grateful to be part of this eclectic and exciting place. Our students are the focus of our work together. We face the same issues that most public schools around the country face. We have limited resources, standards to achieve, and students who need us. We must remain true to our purpose despite any obstacles. As educators, we must be innovative and provide a safe and inspiring environment so our teachers can teach and our students can learn. We have the power to direct our work on behalf of students. Our focus is ensuring that our students leave us career and college ready to take their place in the world. We must marshal our resources to meet the needs of all of our students. We have much work to do together for our youth. I hope you will be part of our district and this wonderful community.
