Film Report--Pocahontas ‘Pocahontas’ is a Walt Disney production. It’s a love story between an Englishman and an Indian Princess. The story is a touching one. It involves love and loyalty and it is also hilarious. The story inspires its audience with the wisdom of life. In the film, Pocahontas learns to listen with her heart and follow the colours of the wind to her true destiny. I’ve seen this film two times – once when I was on a trip to L.A. in the States and once in last summer. This is indeed the most romantic film of Walt Disney’s and that’s why I’ve decided to write my first film report on it. This film is actually quite similar to the other love stories of the Disney’s, but one difference is that it does not have a happy ending – Pocahontas and John Smith are parted at the end of the story. Pocahontas has to choose between two worlds – a modern world full of unknown things and her own familiar world. At last she has chosen the latter because she feels she belongs there. The last scene of the film shows Pocahontas making the sign of goodbye to John Smith who is on the ship sailing back to England. I can still remember this scene clearly because it is really heartbreaking but touching. I think the most interesting character is Pocahontas. She is not only beautiful but also courageous. She knows what to do and what not to do at the right time. For example, in the morning when John smith is to be executed for the crime of killing Kocoum, Pocahontas listens to the wind and follows the spinning arrow on the compass. Finally, she saves John Smith. Besides the touching story, the world of ‘Pocahontas’ is filled with beautiful scenery and wonderful music. It is indeed a recommendable film.
