Overview   6th  Grade  PreAP  Science  is  a  general  science  class  with  an  emphasis  on  Earth   Sciences.  Students  will  add  more  understanding  and  knowledge  to  what  has   already  been  introduced  in  Elementary.

Curriculum

Grading   Each  9  weeks  will  be  similar.  There  will  be  at  least  11  daily  grades  and  4  major   grades.  One  low  daily  grade  from  the  first  4  ½  weeks  will  be  dropped  at   progress  report  time  and  another  low  daily  grade  will  be  dropped  for  the   second  4  ½  weeks.       Schoology   Most  assignments  will  be  given  on  http://gpisd.schoology.com.    Parents  can   get  a  parent  log  in  to  see  what  their  student  is  doing  in  class  and  download  any   assignments.    The  due  dates  are  listed  for  the  assignments  and  should  be  taken   seriously.  Students  have  to  read  assignments  carefully  and  complete   assignments  to  the  specifications  given.

Due  Dates  and  Late  Work   Due  dates  given  in  Schoology  or  in  class  are  nonnegotiable.  After  the  due  date   and  time,  all  assignments  will  be  penalized  points.  If  the  assignment  is  turned   in  within  the  following  week,  they  will  receive  30  points  off  of  their  calculated   grade.  After  the  week  is  over,  the  grade  is  a  zero  and  will  not  be  changed.  This   is  why  it  is  imperative  that  students  get  their  work  on  time.       Conference  Times  and  Other  Parent  Contact   Conference  time  is  8-‐9:30  on  Mondays  and  Wednesdays   The  best  way  to  get  in  contact  with  Mr.  Saenz  is  emailing   [email protected].  Emails  are  usually  replied  to  within  the  same  day   unless  otherwise  unable.   Phone:  (972)  343-‐  3165
