BINDER: Each student will need a 3 – ring binder with four divider tabs. The binder will be used as a tool to help foster organizational skills. Papers in the binder will be kept by date of when they were passed out in class. This binder may be collected and graded at anytime during the trimester. The divider tabs should be labeled as follows: GENERAL INFORMATION NOTES CLASS ACTIVITY LAB REPORTS TESTS/QUIZZES CLASS ACTIVITIES/HOMEWORK POLICY: If a class activity or homework assignment is not turned in at the beginning of class on the due date it will be considered LATE and will be worth half credit. If the late assignment is not turned in the following day, a ZERO will be issued. Upon the 3rd late or missing assignment, academic intervention will be recommended. TEST POLICY: Tests can be retaken if a student receives a D or lower on the test PROVIDED the student has no missing or late work. The retest must be taken within one week of the original test date. This test policy may change at any time. ABSENT POLICY: It is the student’s responsibility to get any missing work from me for the day or days they are absent from school. Due to the nature of the curriculum and the student’s understanding of the topics being covered, I do not give homework in advance for extended absences from school. All work will be given to the student when they return in accordance with the student handbook on absences. Please refer to the student handbook. GRADING POLICY: Science will be graded on a point system. Points will vary depending on the size of each class activity, quiz, and test. For quizzes, I give at least one-day notice and for test, I give at least two days notice. Binders may be collected and graded at any time during the trimester.
