On behalf of the organizing committee we look forward to welcome you to Debrecen, the second largest town of Hungary on the 7th International Plant Protection Symposium (7thIPPS) at University of Debrecen. The National Trans-Tisza Plant Protection Forum (TNF) was established in 1996, 20 years ago and in 1997 the the national Symposium was organized with international participants at the first time, and repeated in every three year. These Symposia are excellent opportunities for researchers, experts, plant protection specialists from countries being in collaboration in European and World projects, for Hungarian university staff and researchers to disseminate their experiences, to discuss ideas and to consider new directions for the future of plant protection. Themes are broad and multiple, as are the ideas and perspectives brought by participants from across our planet. We eager to create tradition of the Symposia, we aim to blend results of present-day science, crop protection practice with the best in local hospitality which will be given in generous measure by the famous city of the Great Hungarian Plain, Debrecen and its ancient University (est. 1538).

Themes Invasive pests in crop protection and the practical implementation of integrated pest management (IPM) Applied Entomology Plant Pathology Weed Science Integrated Pest Management Biological and Biotechnological Control Opportunities Plant Protection in Organic Farming Protection of Environment versus Plant Protection Products Themes should be interpreted broadly. Additional topics to be discussed are welcome.

Debrecen is rich in medicinal and thermal waters. These springs are generally used for inflammatory spinal and arthritic illnesses as well as for the treatment of chronic locomotor sufferings. Especially pleasant hours can be spent in the Nagyerdei (“Bigforest”) Aquaticum Bath (open from 9 am to 8 pm).
