BID ADDENDUM #03 (BID # 986-13) Greenwich Public Schools District Wide Renovations – WMS Curtainwall Replacement 290 Greenwich Avenue Greenwich, CT 06830

Date: December 20th, 2013

This Addendum is to provide answers to questions recieved and modifies the original bidding documents issued for bid on November 19, 2013 and consists of three (3) 8 1/2” x 11” pages. Questions Recieved: Q.1: The pulls specified in 087100 SL-82 are a Special-Lite number yet they are not listed in 081255. Would they be an acceptable manufacturer? A.1:

Yes. Special-Lite would be an acceptable manufacturer for the door pulls.

Q.2:

087100 Specifies a SL-82 pull. 081255 2.05 E(2) specifies SL-86. Which is correct?

A.2:

SL-86, flush model should be used throughout.

Q3: Do you expect any extension of the bid date due to the holiday, our suppliers are not sure they can meet your date as it is giving them only a little over a week in December? A.3:

The bid due date was extended to January 8th, 2014 with Addendum #2.

Q.4: Section 088000 2.12 specifies 1 5/16” thick vision spandrel glass. Wall section 2 on A425 shows 1” vision and 1/4" spandrel. Which is correct? A.4:

All vision glass is to be 1” thick and all spandrel glass is to be 1/4" thick.

Q.5: Elevation 2 on A301 shows an insulated metal panel at the bottom of W8, W10, W13, W14. Wall section 1/A425 shows spandrel glass at the lower lite. Please clarify. A.5: Elevation 2 on A301 is correct. W8, W10, W13, W14 to all have insulated metal panel at bottom. Q.6: A700 Doors, frames call out 1” insulated glass. No 1” glass is specified. Please provide. Frame types 3 + 3A are calling for 1” glass in interior frames, 2.11 calls for 1/4" in interior doors, frames. Which is correct? A.6:

All glass for exterior doors should be 1” insulated glass. Same as curtainwall glazing.

Q.7: Frame types F4, 5 and 8 show a type S which we assume is spandrel. Detail 6A on A701 details a 1 3/4” panel. Which is correct? A.7:

All spandrel glass is to be 1/4” thick with an insulated backpan.

Q.8: Note 6 on door schedule remarks call for an alternate for blast-resistant glazing in door lites. We do not see this alternate on the bid form, if required, please provide a spec. A.8: Please see Bid Form – Alternate #4 – Phase I for this alternate. Product basis for design should be 3M Ultraflex – ULTRA S400 (clear). Q.9: Detail 2 states sunshade see alternate pages. There is no alternate for sunshades shown. Please provide a spec for the sunshades. A.9: Basis for design for alternate sunshades should be Kawneer Versoleil-Outrigger for 1600 Wall System I – 36” rounded outrigger, airfoil blade, bullnose with shallow cover. Q.10: All details show a 1/4" spandrel with insulated backpan. Section 088000 calls for spandrel to be 1 5/16” insulated. Please clarify. A.10:

All spandrel glass is to be 1/4” with an insulated backpan.

Q.11:

Please provide the frame type shown between CL 36/54.

A.11:

Frame type between CL 36/54 is to be curtainwall. See sheet A731 W-15.

Q.12: Details show 2 5/8” thick glazed into window system. Maximum thickness for specified window is 1”-1 1/4”? Some details call for 2 5/8” panel some 2 5/8” spandrel glass. Please clarify. A.12:

All spandrel glass is to be 1/4” with an insulated backpan.

Q.13: 2.5 A.1 specifies a 2” thick aluminum door. Door schedule A700 shows all FRP doors which are 1 3/4" thick. Please clarify. A.13:

All doors are to be FRP at 1 3/4" thick.

Q.14: Elevation W4 calls for a Type O obscure fixed glass. Please provide a specification for this glass. A.14: Basis for design for Obscure glass type to be Viracon – Viraspan Translucent Frit – Simulated Sandblast V1086 Q.15:

2.3 A(2) calls for 6” deep louver. Details on A739 call for 1 1/2" thick. Please clarify.

A.15:

Basis for design for exterior louver to be Airolite – Model AC420.

Q.16: units.

088000 2.12 Glass type H. Please confirm ultra clear glass is required in the spandrel

A.16:

Yes. Spandrel Glass type H should be ultra clear.

Q.17:

1.2 A on Bid Form. Should this read Alternate 1 Part 1

A.17:

Yes. 1.2 A – Alternates – Phase 1: replace text to read Alternate #1 – Part 1.

Q.18: Building 2 Alternate #4 states provide blast resistant film, Note 6 on A700 states blast resistant glazing. Which is correct? A.18: Please see Bid Form – Alternate #4 – Phase I for this alternate. Product basis for design should be 3M Ultraflex – ULTRA S400 (clear). Q.19: Details show a 3 ½” deep window. A737/68 basis of design window is only 2 1/4". Please clarify. A.19:

Window should be Kawneer 8225TL Isolock window, which is 2 1/4" deep.

All project requirements, except for those that specifically added or modified by this Addendum, shall remain in full effect.
