Brazil Tech Day 2013 Session Titles and Abstracts Track 1 – Telecom Solving System Interoperability Issues Using Voltage Translation and I2C Products from TI – (in English) Interoperability issues are a fact of life in today’s large and complex electronic systems. With BOMs frequently running hundreds if not thousands of components, system interoperability is an inevitable challenge. This presentation will focus on two common areas where many interoperability problems exist, I2C and voltage translation. While I2C is ubiquitous in today’s systems it is a very broad spec covering very wide loading conditions, operating speed and a fairly limited address space. As processors move to lower voltage nodes, interfacing them to peripherals which don’t support those lower voltages is probably one of the most common issues system engineers face. In both topics we will discuss TI’s wide variety of products that can be used to solve these problems and other system considerations to take into account when choosing these products.

How to Use the Clock Design Tool Software to Design with LMK/LMX Devices – (in Portuguese) The Clock Design Tool is a powerful offline software tool intended to assist in part selection, loop filter design, and phase noise simulation for clock generators/jitter cleaners (LMK) and frequency synthesizer (LMX) devices. The presentation will include a guided tour of the tool’s key capabilities & limitations, basic design flow, and device PLL configuration & simulation features. Participants will also be given hands-on experience with the tool to select, design, and simulate a solution to meet a given set of design requirements. These include PMBus protection/monitoring, integrated FET eFuses, High Power POE, and USB charging controllers. We will review these as time and interest allow. This presentation is intended to be interactive and attendees are encouraged to ask questions.

How KeyStone A15-Based Processors Enable Networking Application – (in English) Traditionally Networking control plane has been domination by x86 and Power architectures supported sometimes by FPGA based or specialized accelerators. However in the recent years the entire networking industry is looking for greener alternatives and actively considering RISC based processors which is low power but powerful enough to meeting the processing needs; enter Cortex A-15 core from ARM® as an alternative. Just the core performance however is not sufficient to realize the theoretical performance if the overall SoC architecture does not enable that. KeyStone is an architecture to create infrastructure grade A15 based processor. The topic of discussion for today is to highlight what specific applications within the networking domain KeyStone architecture enables, market feedback and the differentiating features of KeyStone.
