Preamble: AP Physics B mirrors the content taught in a typical algebra based physics course. Students who complete this course will be prepared to score well on the AP Physics exam. Success on the AP exam will result in college credit for a semester of algebra based physics at most universities. That’s all well and good, but the real reason you should take this course is that it will lead to your knowing a bit about how the world works and, more importantly, how to think a little bit better. Textbooks: Primary Text: Physics Kahuna text (Provided) Secondary Texts: Walker, J.S. Physics. 2nd Edition. Upper Saddle River, NJ: Prentice Hall. (Provided) 5 Steps to a 5 AP Physics B & C, Any Edition (Optional) Grading policy: Tests & Quizzes: 70% Quizzes are given at the end of each unit. The format of each quiz is approximately 70% free response and 30% multiple choice with many of the questions based on actual AP exam questions. The semester finals will be given in December for 1st semester and in May for 2nd semester. The final is worth approximately 10 times as much as a quiz. There is one opportunity to take a second version of each final if you are not satisfied with your first score.
