Dami Im and Katy Perry debut at Number One on this week’s ARIA Singles and Albums Charts Singles: Top 5: 1. Dami Im ‘Alive’ (debut) 2. Katy Perry ‘Roar’ 3. One Direction ‘Story Of My Life’ (debut) 4. Guy Sebastian ‘Like A Drum’ (debut) 5. Pitbull feat. Ke$ha ‘Timber’ Singles Chartifacts: #1: Dami Im ‘Alive’ (debut) – X Factor series five winner Im debuts at #1 with her winner’s single Alive. It continues the run of X Factor winner’s singles hitting #1 on the ARIA Singles Charts that also includes Reece Mastin’s Good Night (#1 Nov. ’11) and Samantha Jade’s What You've Done To Me (#1 Nov. ’12).   #3: One Direction ‘Story Of My Life’ (debut) – Fourth top five hit for the UK boy band and recent visitors to our shores. Story Of My Life is the follow-up to Best Song Ever (#4 Jul. ’13) and is the second single to come from the quintet’s forthcoming Midnight Memories album, out at the end of the month.   #4: Guy Sebastian ‘Like A Drum’ (debut) – Guy Sebastian’s first single to hit the ARIA Charts for almost a year. Like A Drum is the first single to come from Sebastian’s seventh studio album, set for release in 2014. It’s Sebastian’s 12th top ten single on the ARIA Charts.   #11: Katy Perry ‘Unconditionally’ (debut) – The second single from this week’s #1 album, Prism. It’s the follow-up to nine-week chart-topper Roar (#1 Aug. ’13). Perry performed the track several times during her Australian promo visit this week.   #13: Eminem Feat. Rihanna ‘The Monster’ (debut) – Fourth single from Eminem’s The Marshall Mathers LP 2. It’s the rapper’s second single release featuring Rihanna. The first, Love The Way You Lie, topped the chart for six weeks in 2010.  

 

  Albums: Top 5: 1. Katy Perry ‘Prism’ (debut) 2. Lorde ‘Pure Heroine’ 3. James Blunt ‘Moon Landing’ 4. Various ‘Triple J Like A Version 9’ 5. Kerser ‘S.C.O.T.’ (debut) Albums Chartifacts: #1: Katy Perry ‘Prism’ (debut) – Third major label album and the second to top the ARIA Albums Chart for Katy Perry. It’s the follow-up to her previous chart-topper Teenage Dream (#1 Sept. ’10). The album includes nine-week chart-topper Roar (#1 Aug. ’13) as well as the new single Unconditionally (new at #11 this week). Perry was in Australia this week to promote the album’s release.   #5: Kerser ‘S.C.O.T’ (debut) – Third album from Sydney MC Kerser. The follow-up to No Rest For The Sickest (#15 Nov. ’12) becomes Kerser’s highest-charting album. Kerser topped the ARIA Music DVD Chart earlier in 2013 with No Rest for the Sickest 2013 National Tour (#1 Sept. ’13).   #7: Linkin Park ‘Recharged’ (debut) – The second remix album from Linkin Park features reworkings of tracks from Living Things (#2 Jul. ’12) done by producer Rick Rubin and band member/producer Mike Shinoda. The band’s first remix album was Reanimation (#16 Aug. ’12).   #15: Beyonce ‘4’ – A return to the top 50 for 4 on the back of Beyonce’s current national tour. It previously debuted and peaked at #2 in July 2011.   #34: Paul Kelly ‘Songs From The South Volume 1 & 2’ – This album’s reappearance on the Albums Chart comes on the back of the broadcast of the Kelly documentary Stories Of Me on ABC1 on Sunday night. It previously peaked at #22 in Nov. ’08.
