GMDSS Global Maritime Distress and Safety System – General Operators Certificate SEAMEC offers a ten day Australian Maritime Safety Authority (AMSA) approved course for persons wishing to gain a GMDSS General Operators Certificate. Our training is conducted by qualified and experienced trainers so you can be assured you will receive accredited training which is up-todate. The training comprises of unit ‘TDMME807B Transmit and receive information by GMDSS subsystems and equipment’ from the Maritime Training Package TDM50307 – Diploma of Transport & Distribution (Maritime Operations – Deck Watchkeeper). Certificates On successful completion of training students will receive a certificate which is valid for 12 months, during which time students should apply to AMSA for a GMDSS GOC. Revalidation course A revalidation course is available to students who require revalidation of their Australian GMDSS GOC. This course is held concurrently with a GMDSS GOC ‘full’ course, and as such places are limited. 2012 Revalidation courses: Costs Full course fee: Revalidation:

Bookings and enrolment Bookings may be made by contacting SEAMEC on 03 5155 6500 during business hours (8.30 am – 5 pm, Monday - Friday). Enrolments can be completed on the first day of the course. Course fees are to be paid in full two weeks prior to course commencement. Cancellations and refunds SEAMEC has a minimum student number policy, and reserves the right to cancel courses if these requirements are not met. Students will be entitled to a refund of all monies paid in this instance. Students are not entitled to a refund on First Aid, GMDSS GOC/Reval or MROCP courses if they withdraw or do not attend. Students may discuss options available for them with regard to deferring or transferring to other scheduled courses.
