EMPLOYEE OF THE MONTH How would you describe the Stow-Munroe Falls Public Library? As a library “for the people”. We have the materials and services that our patrons want. What book would you recommend? Anything by Nora Roberts (prolific romantic suspense writer) or Janet Evanovich (you’ll laugh out loud when you read her). What is your favorite vacation spot? The beach (any beach). Took a wonderful family vacation with kids and grandkids to Virginia Beach a few years ago. I’ll never forget it! What are your hobbies? Reading, crossword puzzles, spoiling my beautiful grandchildren (I’m really good at this). What would people be surprised to know about you? That I don’t like heights or closed-in places like elevators, so I just avoid tall buildings with elevators. Do you have any pets? We don’t have any now, but have had many cats, dogs, birds, and gerbils in the past years.

Barb Richards How long have you been working at the Stow-Munroe Falls Public Library? I have been working at the library for nearly 26 years. I have had the wonderful experience of working here these many years with great patrons and staff. What is your current job? I am Head of Circulation Services. What other jobs have you had while employed at the library? Circulation Clerk, Assistant Head of Circulation, Head of Shelving and Head of Circulation for the last 23 years (always been in Circulation).

If you had one SMFPL service to recommend to a patron, what would it be? Hard to choose because we offer so many great services, but...the drive-up window—convenient, quick service in any weather.

BARB BEILING Volunteer of the Year

T

Library Director, Douglas Dotterer, congratulates Barb.

David Renninger, President of the Library Board of Trustees, announces Barb Beiling as Volunteer of the Year.

he employees of the Stow-Munroe Falls Public Library awarded the first annual Volunteer of the Year award to Barbara Beiling on Pride in Library Day on Wednesday, June 29. Barb has been volunteering at the library since 2001. She is past president of the Friends of the Library and has been the Chairman of the Booksale Committee for many years. Since she started, the Friends and volunteers have put in thousands of hours and raised more than $216,000 for the Library. More importantly, they are really friends to each other. In her thank you note, Barb was sure to point out that all of the volunteers, from the youngest to the oldest, make important contributions. It’s a labor of love, because they all love the library, and the phenomenal StowMunroe Falls Public Library staff. She said her award was earned by a large number of people and she hoped she could convey to them how much she appreciated their efforts. In closing, she said she would like to share her award with them as it has been earned by the efforts of many. Barb, you and all of our volunteers are appreciated. Thank you!
