Course Outline The objectives of the AutoCAD 2013 Essentials course is to cover the core topics for working with AutoCAD, demonstrate to fellow teachers how to successfully use AutoCAD in teaching the mandatory topics of the QSA Graphics curriculum. Participants will also learn how to maximise the potential of this software in tandem with Autodesk Inventor Professional to provide positive learning experiences in 2D and 3D graphical Communication. This will help develop students’ spatial awareness and advance their skills in visualising complex drawings. Participants will be shown how to create effective teaching resources along with useful methods and techniques for constructing examination materials. This course focuses on the basic tools that are needed to work effectively with AutoCAD in a classroom setting. It is intended to assist teachers using AutoCAD in all contextual units of the QSA Senior Graphics course. It is tailored to those who has a basic knowledge of this software and want to increase the quality of their presentation to students along with a desire to increase the quality of student outcomes. Simple approaches to CAD teaching will be illustrated so teachers can teach CAD in a fun and enjoyable way as well as having the ENROL students highlyNOW motivated. Professional Development for Australian Teachers

Damien Hanley Damien Hanley, Bachelor of Technology (Education) in Materials and Architectural Technology, has been in the Technology KLAs for over 7 years. Damien started as a tutor/TA in the Architectural Technology and Technical Graphics Teacher program at the University of Limerick, Ireland. He then moved to St Peters Lutheran College in Brisbane and has taught their as Technology Teacher particularly Graphics since 2008. He has vast experience in the Technology KLAs, is on the Syllabus Committee for Graphics in Brisbane and has taught Engineering Technology, Technology Studies, Graphics and Construction at the senior level for many years. Damien has been involved in the presentation of teacher in-service workshops and seminars and is actively involved in
