PRESENTING AVAM IN THE AFTERNOON: A SERIES OF INTERACTIVE WORKSHOPS FOR AGES 8 AND UP! JOIN US IN BUILDING YOUR INNER CREATIVITY AS WE EXPLORE THE WORLD OF VISIONARY ART, MEET GUEST ARTISTS, AND ENGAGE IN CREATIVE PROJECTS OF YOUR OWN. EACH WEEK WILL FEATURE A DIFFERENT HANDS-ON ACTIVITY. WHETHER YOU’RE A BEGINNER OR A VISIONARY GURU, YOU’LL DISCOVER SOME NEW INSPIRATION AT AVAM IN THE ATERNOON! PRE-REGISTRATION REQUIRED. WEDNESDAY, FEBRUARY 5 MIXED MESSAGES Students will explore the visions and messages inside their heads and create large, mixed-media silhouettes to share them with the world!

WEDNESDAY, MARCH 5 WIRE WHIMSIES Inspired by visionary artists Judith Scott and Stanley Wright, students will use wire and fabric to bend, shape, and weave their way to a 3D work of art.

WEDNESDAY, FEBRUARY 12 CARDBOARD SCULPTURES Inspired by visionary sculptor, Fred Carter, students will explore how this every-day material can be transformed into sculptural masterpieces!

WEDNESDAY, MARCH 12 VISIONARY ENVIRONMENTS Students will learn about the many visionary artists that transform entire environments with their artwork. Using collage techniques, students will plan out their own visionary environments.

WEDNESDAY, FEBRUARY 19 CRAZY COSTUMES w/ Naomi Visiting artist, Naomi Davidoff, will join us for this special costume making workshop! These creative costumes will be inspired by visionary artists Mona Webb and Deborah Berger.

WEDNESDAY, MARCH 19 CREATURE FEATURE Visionary artist Brian Dowdall uses all types of cardboard for his vibrant paintings. Students will explore their imagination and create cardboard creature paintings of their own!
