Book Report: Letter and Movie Poster Letter

Write a letter to a movie producer explaining why you think your book, would or would not, make a good film. Choose one stance and develop it. You need to include a section about the plot (summary), characters, and theme. Final letters will be completed using Pages Application. Your business letter should be formatted like this:

February 13, 2009 Mr. Producer Movies Inc. 123 Land Dr. New York, NY 10011 Dear Mr. Producer: (Business letters have paragraphs that are not indented. Explain the plot (a short summary of the main/key ideas from the book) and why it would or would not make a good movie. Use specific details from the story.) (Business letters have paragraphs that are not indented. Explain the main characters in your novel and why they would or would not be good for a movie. Use your “character traits” hand out which includes more descriptive adjectives. Use specific text examples in your explanation.) (Business letters have paragraphs that are not indented. Explain the theme (the message about life) of your novel and why it would or would not be good for a movie. Make sure you include specific examples from the novel.) Sincerely yours, (Sign your name)

Movie Poster Use your Pages application to create a flier/movie poster. Have fun with this part of the project and remember that the point of a movie poster is to try and sell your book as a movie that people would want to see. Below are the guidelines that you should follow: Should have at least these criteria:

~Title of book ~Illustration (Shows a main point of your book)

~Quote or phrase that intrigues an audience. (Remember,

should be catchy; something the audience will remember and should tell a lot about the book. Example: “She makes dinner. She does windows. She reads bedtime stories. She’s a blessing…in disguise.” Mrs. Doubtfire.)

~Producer/Director (Would be the author of your book.)

~Actors/Actresses (People you want to star as your main characters.)

~Rating (Why did you give it that rating? Violence, Complex, etc.)
