ANNOUNCEMENT August 30, 2011

Bosch Rexroth expands footprint in Charlotte Bosch Rexroth Corporation, the world’s leading provider of drive, motion and control technologies for advanced manufacturing systems, has concentrated its automation technologies business in Charlotte. The company is a member of the Bosch Group, a global supplier of technology and services with 283,500 employees and 2010 sales of 47.3 billion euros (roughly $63 billion). In support of this concentration, President and CEO Berend Bracht and other top Bosch Rexroth executives are now based in the company’s office and manufacturing facility at 14001 South Lakes Drive in South Point Business Park. The executive team was previously located in Hoffman Estates, IL. Bosch Rexroth has manufactured linear motion products in Charlotte since 1991, when Rexroth acquired the Tychoway Bearing Company that had been established in Charlotte in 1985. In 2010, the company relocated the production of its line of assembly systems from Michigan to the South Point facility, and in recent weeks, leased 67,700 sq. ft. in SilverLake Business Park for a new logistics center. This concentration of resources has added 45 jobs to the local economy and is the foundation of Rexroth’s plans to expand its automation technologies business. Warren Snowden of Cushman & Wakefiled/Thalhimer represented Bosch Rexroth in lease negotiations at SilverLake. Lane Holbert and Barb Jespersen of Cassidy Turley represented the building owner, M. David Properties.

The Rexroth expansion of its Charlotte facility allows it to supply a broader range of automation technologies from a central location.

“By centralizing the manufacturing of key Factory Automation products in Charlotte, we have positioned ourselves for significant future growth,” said Berend Bracht, regional president of Bosch Rexroth in the Americas. “The logistical convenience of the Charlotte airport, wide range of available local services, and the close proximity to our Mobile Applications lead plant in Fountain Inn, SC were also key reasons for expansion here.”
