Call for paper proposals Special issue Mathematics education research in the field of Down syndrome: Latest developments and emerging trends

Guest editors: Dr Rhonda Faragher, University of Queensland, Australia Dr Elena Gil Clemente, University of Zaragoza, Spain IJDDE welcomes paper proposals for the upcoming special issue on mathematics education research in the field of Down syndrome. Until very recently, it was assumed that people with Down syndrome could not do mathematics. Fortunately, emerging research from areas of mathematics other than arithmetic, such as Geometry and Algebra is showing much more promising results, and moving the purpose of mathematics education from exclusively functional goals to formative ones. We are now at an exciting time in the field of mathematics cognition and education research in Down syndrome. This special issue aims to bring together the latest of this research. In particular, the guest editors are interested in articles that:    

Have a focus on Down syndrome Explore new areas of mathematics curriculum, teaching, learning or assessment Are full research papers (6000 words) or brief research reports (3000 words) Have an international focus
