MESSAGE FROM THE EDITOR: Call to Arms! Dear readers, as we heard in the last issue, Wayne Luplow served as Editor-in-Chief of the IEEE Transactions on Consumer Electronics for over an incredible 30 years. I cannot imagine how many hours, days and years he has spent providing us with such a fantastic journal, now in its 57th year. I am also struck by how patient his wife Judy must be! Unfortunately, I do not possess enough literary and poetic ability to express how grateful I am sure we all are for Wayne’s dedication and commitment, but he is, and will continue to be, an inspiration to us all. Wayne has embodied the spirit of our society by unselfishly guiding and mentoring many of us, further demonstrated by the help and training I have received in putting this issue together. After Wayne decided to retire from the Transactions, the IEEE Consumer Electronics Society AdCom met in June 2010 and I was honored to follow Wayne as Editor-in-Chief from 2011 for a term of 3 years, with the option for a second term. Having been reviewer for the Transactions on Consumer Electronics for 8 years I have seen many different and challenging papers but never really saw myself in such an editorial role. I would like to thank the AdCom for the faith they have put in me and I hope I do not disappoint. Over the coming issues the review team will be looking for more reviewers to complement the skillful team we already have. There are no hard requirements but prospective reviewers must have a good understanding of Consumer Electronics devices, hardware, software, services and a good grasp of the English language. The ever changing nature of our field challenges all our abilities each day and so we would like to especially hear from prospective reviewers who have knowledge in the consumer electronic aspects of software, operating systems, environmental and low power design. However reviewers in the more traditional consumer electronic topics are also welcome.
