Civil Engineering Technology Educating future engineering technicians to help design, construct, and maintain our civil engineering infrastructure: bridges, roads, dams, culverts, airports and more. The Basics There has always been a need to expand and maintain America’s infrastructure. With ever increasing traffic, and the demands of the travelling public, roads, highways, bridges, etc. are continually being built. It is the Civil Engineering Technician, working as the eyes and ears for the engineer, who assures these infrastructure projects get designed and built to last. Surveying, inspecting, designing and constructing are all important aspects of an infrastructure project, and all these skills are taught in DMACC’s CET program.
Where can you work & what can you earn? Civil Engineering Technicians work in the private and public sector. Graduates of this program go to work for city engineering offices, county engineering offices, state highway departments, private consulting firms, private testing labs, private surveying firms, highway contractors and more. Companies will pay an estimated $35,000–$41,000 starting salary*, plus full benefits packages, for graduates of DMACC’s 2-year Civil Engineering Technology program. *salary based on 2014 placement data, with excellent advancement potential

Project Lead the Way If you took Project Lead the Way courses in your high school, the CET program is happy to give you credit for those. (up to 6 credits) EGT460 will transfer is as CET102, Fundamentals of Civil Engineering, and EGT400 will transfer in as CET178, Automated Design I. CET recognizes the skills and knowledge you gained in PLTW, and is happy to reward you with college credit.
