Classes in Tafseer, Hadeeth, ‘Aqeedah and Arabic FREE Sessions Open to All Instructor: Aboo Shaybah When: Every Saturday and Sunday from July 27-August 25, 2013. Where: Oxford College, 670 Progress Ave. (Scarborough), near McCowan RT station and Scarborough Town Centre. Classes will also be broadcast online. Please note that priority in terms of reading and interaction will be given to those attending in person. Registration and Class Materials: Registration open until July 26, 2013. 1) Mustalah al-Hadeeth (Explaining Terminologies used in the Study of Hadeeth) Class Time: 9am-1pm Class Text: Mustalah al-Hadeeth Made Easy, as well as the poem al-Bayqooniyyah Who this class is for: Anyone who wishes to have basic understanding of the terminologies and classifications utilized in the analysis and critique of Hadeeth texts and narrators in order to identify which of them are acceptable and which are not. Note: There will be an optional final evaluation for this class conducted verbally. It will consist of students in attendance being asked to explain portions of al-Bayqooniyyah.

2) Tafseer/Arabic Reading Sessions Class Time: Immediately following Thuhr (1:45pm) until 5pm Class Text: at-Tafseer al-Muyassar (from the beginning of Soorah al-Hujuraat till the end of Soorah al-Hadeed). Supplementary reading and discussion will also be selected from Tafseer ibn Katheer. Who this class is for: These sessions are especially recommended for anyone who knows enough Arabic to read and have basic comprehension, and wishes to practice and improve their reading by using a simple Arabic Tafseer. Note: Sessions for women will be taught by Umm Ilyaas (in person only, not broadcast online).

3) The Forty Hadeeth of an-Nawawee with the additions of ibn Rajab (revisited) Class Time: Immediately following ‘Asr (5:30pm) until 7pm Class Text: The Forty Hadeeth of an-Nawawee with additions of ibn Rajab Who this class is for: These sessions are especially recommended for anyone who has already read, memorized, or studied the Forty Hadeeth of an-Nawawee. The sessions will be interactive and will welcome audience participation so as to exchange, discuss, and collectively review previously studied material, as well as make any corrections and add important points as necessary. Note: Once the review of these hadeeth is complete we will also read Rudimentary Islamic Beliefs, by as-Sa‘dee (time permitting).

Attendees are requested to please kindly bring writing materials as well as the necessary texts.
