tutoring service. CBT works to build and strengthen the diverse Chicago communities it serves through exposing young learners to the issues in their community.
Community Building Tutors College Students CBT offers opportunities for college students to give back to their community and earn valuable experience. Volunteering for CBT can also count as service learning hours for your college or university. Students don’t have to have any prior tutoring experience to get involved, but a desire to work with younger children is a must. A desire to work with young learners and give back to the community is what’s important! Tutor: Strengthen your community by tutoring young learners, ages four through twelve, once a week at one of CBT’s sites. Tutors work one-on-one and in small groups with young learners to help them improve academically. Our tutoring sessions are formatted so that students spend time on both academic work and in a wide variety of activities that help to build a young learners sense of community and civic engagement. Site Coordinator: Manage one of CBT’s tutoring sites. Be the main point person for all tutors and young learners at a tutoring site for a semester or a longer timeframe. Help recruit tutors and assist in overseeing all tutoring activities.
