Results: There were 28 patients enrolled into this study; 4 patients were excluded from data analysis because of missing data. The average time to confirmation of CVC placement by ultrasonography (saline flush visualized and pneumothorax excluded) was 8.9 minutes (95% CI: 6.2-11.52). The average time to confirmation of CVC placement by chest x-ray interpretation by the emergency physician was 30.0 minutes (95% CI: 21.2- 32.4).
