IT Essentials - PC Hardware and Software Course Description:

Online

IT Essentials Cisco IT Essentials (5 credit) covers the fundamentals as well as advanced concepts of computer hardware and software. Students who complete this course will be able to describe the internal components of a computer, assemble a computer system, install an operating system, and troubleshoot problems using system tools and diagnostic software. Students will also be able to connect to the Internet and share resources in a network environment. New topics included in this version cover laptops and portable devices, wireless connectivity, security, safety issues, environmental issues, and communication skills. The student would, upon successful completion of this course, receive the credits listed below, a certificate from Cisco Systems Networking Academy and a Focus on Information Technology (FIT) certificate from the Information and Communications Technology Council (ICTC). The skills acquired from this course will also help prepare students to write the Comp TIA A+ Certification exams from CompTIA if they so desire.
