Excessive dietary sodium intake is a well-known risk factor of hypertension. A meta-analysis has shown that a reduction in dietary sodium intake can decrease high blood pressure [1], which is common in patients with diabetes. According to the Korean Diabetes Fact Sheet 2015, 62.5% of diabetics have hypertension [2]. Therefore, to effectively control diabetes and hypertension and to prevent other related complications, changes to patients’ lifestyle, such as reducing dietary sodium intake, are needed. The Dietary Approaches to Stop Hypertension diet, which fixed the threshold for daily sodium intake to
