Defining disruptive innovation Innovation is the introduction of new product, service, technology, administrative practice or significant improvement to an existing product, service, or technology. Disruptive innovation is the technology that changes the existing business model, or customer expectations. Academic libraries and scholarly communication are likely to be disrupted by new technologies and their application.
