Circadian rhythms, or diurnal variations, in responses to exercise are reflected by differences between responses in the morning (AM) and in the afternoon (PM). The purpose of this study was to determine if these AM-PM differences were the same in "morning types" ("larks") and "evening types" ("owls"). Thirtytwo college students were classified, based on responses to a questionnaire, as larks ( n = 11), as owls (n= 14), or as not strongly either (n=7). Subjects performed incremental maximal cycle ergometer tests in the AM and PM. Considered together, subjects had AM-PM differences (at p
