ABOUT US
2016
Founded in 1981, BAR Engineering focused on heavy oil and gas facility design. Since then, we’ve expanded and added disciplines to better service the oil and gas sector, while still maintaining a focus on professional service. Today we are a team of over 80 engineers, technologists, technicians, and support staff, and are licensed to practice in all four western provinces. Throughout our multi-disciplinary team, our focus remains on the client. We ensure our team is kept up to date on the latest education and training to ensure we’re working with the latest standards, regulations and technology, so we are able to provide the best solution for our client. Neil Noble P.Eng. Principal Engineer and Manager of Oil & Gas Neil has been practicing engineering for over four decades, starting his career with Husky Oil Energy. While there, Neil was assigned increasing levels of engineering management responsibility including heavy oil and thermal production engineering, heavy oil and gas facility design, project management, and Refinery and Upgrader engineering leadership. Since joining BAR in 1997, Neil has proven himself to be a team player. He focuses on the big picture and takes the necessary steps to get there. A dedicated, reliable, and personable individual who we bet you’ll be calling ‘friend’ by the end of any project.
Brent Gebhardt
P.Eng.
Manager of Structural Brent is someone you won’t miss in a crowd – and not just because he’s that tall. Brent has established a diverse skill set with increasing levels of responsibility in a variety of industries. He started his career in the manufacturing and maintenance industries where he gained experience with welding and machining processes. He has experience ranging from mobile equipment to commercial buildings to life safety components. Brent has served in multiple capacities, progressing from engineering to Team Lead, earning his way to become the top dog of the Structural Department here at BAR.
Rick Collins P.Eng. Manager of Municipal Rick has been in the industry for over 25 years, in various roles which include managing engineering project teams and the Director of Planning & Public Works for the City of Lloydminster. Previously, he took on a major position as Division Manager for both Lloydminster and Bonnyville offices of an environmental and infrastructure firm, where he was tasked with the technical aspects and financial operations as well. Upon joining BAR Engineering ten years ago, Rick has proven himself to be a ‘comedian in the break room’, and ‘serious in the board-room’ type of worker and an overall pleasure to be around. :

Chad Wilson P.Eng. Manager of Electrical & Instrumentation Chad, otherwise known as “The Guru” around the office for his expertise, has been practicing engineering for nearly three decades. Chad has had the pleasure of working as an IWA contractor, a position that ranged in skills from rebuilding and renovating lumber facilities, to providing field engineering and operations support for a major gas transmission company in northern BC. Prior to joining BAR Engineering, Chad was the acting Team Leader for two major gas plant technical service groups. At BAR, he is a proven leader. Chad provides day-to-day leadership for electrical, instrumentation, and automation groups. With his keen leadership and detail-oriented eye, Chad makes the perfect addition to any team.
Carston Moore Manager of Mechanical Design & Drafting With over three decades of experience in design and drafting, and a communityoriented spirit, Carston a perfect addition to the BAR Engineering team. Prior to joining BAR in 2008, Carston has worked for a survey company with responsibilities in drafting and design for 18 years with an additional two years of private contract drafting service work for numerous clients. Carston is energetic and always eager to take on a new challenge.
Kent Smith P.Eng. Managing Director Passionate, dedicated, community-oriented: Kent is the guy you want in your corner. Kent first gained great exposure in the construction industry when he worked as a construction engineer at the Bi-Provincial Upgrader in Lloydminster, Saskatchewan. Upon completion, he then gained international exposure with his work on the MTBE Plant in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. Kent joined BAR Engineering upon his return to Canada and quickly moved up in the Oil & Gas department to his current role as Managing Director. With Kent’s 25 years plus experience in local and international engineering stages, his leadership and passion for both the community and the work is truly exceptional. Kent would make a great addition to any major project.
