Subject objectives: The aim of the subject is to acquire and expand the achieved knowledge of the grammatical and lexical system of the German language in combination with the thorough practice of the four basic language skills, the reading comprehension of a technical economic text as well as enhancing students’ writing skills and the preparation for the exam. Content of the subject: The subject consists of 3 Business German lessons a week, two of them focused on improving communication skills in business and one on practising technical terms according to assigned topics for the exam. Credit requirements: Successfully passed vocabular and grammar tests + a successful presentation of one or two selected exam topics. Obtaining the credit is based on the following conditions: - an average of 60% required in test and presentation assessment in case of 0 or 1 missed classes - an average of 70% required in test and presentation assessment in case of 2 missed classes - an average of 80% required in test and presentation assessment in case of 3 missed classes Justifiable cases of more than three missed classes are dealt with individually.

Exam requirements: The exam consists of two parts. Written exam The written exam tests the acquired vocabulary of the assigned topics during the four terms of study and the grammar based on the coursebook. A listening test is also a part of the written exam.

The oral exam The student must show the ability to discuss technical economic topics and promptly respond to asked questions. The discussion is based on topics related to an article which is read and commented on by the student during the exam, followed by talk on one of the assigned topics which were taught and discussed in the course of the four terms. The level of student’s speaking skills as well as the knowledge of technical terms is assessed in the oral exam. 1. Kommunikation und Handelskorrespondenz – mündliche und schriftliche Kommunikation (Anfrage, Angebot, Auftrag/Bestellung, Lieferung, Mahnung, Reklamation) – Abwicklung von Telefongesprächen, Abwicklung von Verhandlungen – Wie schreibt man richtig Geschäftsbriefe? 8.
