EXECUTIVE SUMMARY ABOUT THE COLLEGE The S.A. Engineering College named after Sakunthala Ammal and sponsored by Dharma Naidu Educational & Charitable Trust established in the year 1998-1999. The trust comprises a team of highly respected and recognized professionals in the field of academics, management and industry, dedicated to create an institution imparting quality technical education. The college is well-planned and well-designed, built with more than 4 lakh square feet of constructed area. The aesthetically designed campus has ultramodern facilities with separate academic wing for each department, administration block, laboratories and workshops, state-of-the art computer labs, spacious classrooms, well-stocked library, conference hall, separate seminar hall for each department, canteen, dining hall with hygienic kitchen, playgrounds, and separate hostel for boys. SCIENCE AND HUMANITIES DEPARTMENT ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT  The department comprises Chemistry, English, Mathematics and Physics in its canopy.  It has grown strong over the years in terms of infrastructural facilities, well equipped & spacious Laboratories, experienced & dedicated team of faculty members technical expertise, modern teaching aids.  The department has separate Library for each stream with almost updated books & seminar hall with all the up-to-the-minute equipments.  The department caters to the needs of first year & higher semester students.  All the faculty members are the active members of ISTE. STRATEGIES  The department started ISTE Chapter & many of the Staff & Students are members of this Chapter. In association with ISTE, Department organizes National Level Conference on Basic Sciences.  The Department conducts Guest Lectures in association with Professional societies like ISTE, CSI, etc on various topics of applied sciences like Nano Science, Mathematical Kaleidoscope, Spectroscopy etc.  Doctorates & Professors from various reputed colleges like Anna University, IITM etc are invited as Guest speakers to deliver information & details about the present & future world contributed by the potential engineers.  The college conducts Business English Certificate(BEC) course, an international examination designed by University of Cambridge & issues certificates.

LAB FACILITIES The Physics, Chemistry and English Language Laboratories of the Department are outfitted with latest technical equipments.

COMPUTER SCIENCE AND ENGINEERING DEPARTMENT OBJECTIVE The objective of the Computer Science and Engineering program is to hone technical skills demanded by today's engineering professionals by providing a sound technical platform and the required knowledge base. It prepares them to meet the challenges faced by today's IT professionals by exposing them to a leading edge research and innovative education in Computer Science. The Department embraces its mission in research and graduate education (discovery), undergraduate education (learning) and outreach (engagement) in Computer Science.

DEPARTMENT INFRASTRUCTURE The Department is accredited by NBA of AICTE. The Department has grown strong over the years in terms of infrastructure facilities, experienced and dedicated team of faculty strength, technical expertise, modern teaching aids, browsing facilities etc. It has centralized computer center with a built up area of 2210 sq.m. It has excellent and well-equipped air-conditioned laboratories with state-of-the art computing facilities, equipped with more than 550 computer systems with latest configuration along with updated versions of latest software. The department has MOU‟s with leading companies in Chennai enabling staff and students to work on current trends. The department has highly qualified and dedicated team of faculty members who work towards creating an academic industrial environment through continuous interaction with the Industry and organizing Guest Lectures, Industrial Visits, In-Plant Training etc.

INFORMATION AND TECHNOLOGY OBJECTIVE The objective is to emphasize more on practice and is designed to bridge the gap with reality and to enhance original thoughts, creativity in decision making and building technical competence. 4

STRENGTH OF THE DEPARTMENT The program is designed such that the student develops a practical understanding of the technology. The pillars that make the IT curriculum are programming, networking, web systems, information management and human-computer interaction. They provide the students with the skills and knowledge to take on appropriate professional positions upon graduation and grow into leadership positions or pursue graduate studies and research in the field. The department has spacious laboratories, seminar hall and lecture rooms. The pedagogy of the department goes with Smart board, LCD multimedia projectors and AV systems, which make learning more interactive and fruitful and make students think and analyze what they learn rather than just take notes. The department has sufficient and efficient faculty members whose areas of expertise and research include data mining, network security, mobile communication, embedded systems, DOT NET technologies etc. Faculty members of the department have secured University top ranks in P.G. studies. HIGHLIGHTS The Department has a library with over 703 books & back volumes. Students are motivated by doing In-House projects Our students received “Best Out-Going Student award” for 3 consecutive years. The students are taken for industrial visits and they undergo In-Plant training in reputed organization to obtain technical knowledge in their relevant field. The staff are members of professional bodies like IEEE, CSI, ISTE etc. The department support team takes care of system maintenance and support within the campus. Every year the Department conducts a National level Technical Symposium – DESPOTIX. The department conducts national Conference every year for the benefit of student & staff community.

ELECTRICAL AND ELECTRONICS ENGINEERING PROGRAM OBJECTIVE To provide a holistic profile of students in scholastic and co scholastic areas creating a cohesive atmosphere among the slow learners, increasing the intellectual and skilled engineers for the need of an Industry and cultivating employable skills among the students.

PINNACLE All the students and faculty members are the members of leading professional bodies like IEEE, IET, ISTE etc. In-house projects are favored and executed in the department for the final year students. The department library is highly outfitted with reference books in diverse titles. Laboratories are well set with quality equipments to cater to the need of the students. Embedded System Lab is exclusively provided with software such as KEIL, ORCAD, LABVIEW etc. The department students have crowned in University examinations. The project proposals are submitted to various funding agencies. The department has created number of University Rank Holders. Our department received the National Seminar fund of Rs.50000/- from MNRI Govt. of India. The department owns patent for some projects. The department has recognized research centre, approved by Anna University, Chennai.

MECHANICAL DEPARTMENT COURSE MODULE The objective is to inculcate thorough knowledge in all spheres of mechanical engineering, in such a way that they will be able to apply their knowledge to solve the real life Industrial problems and also to develop creativity so as to take up active research which will be beneficial to the industry and thus to the society. DEPARTMENT MANOEUVRE  The program is designed in order to facilitate the students with the practical knowledge of design and to concatenate the gap between the manufacturing and design sector. The pillars constituting the mechanical department are Engineering Design, Manufacturing Science and Thermal Engineering. With the knowledge of these areas, the students are able to excel themselves in their post-graduate studies and take up research projects related to their field.

 The department provides spacious laboratories, lecture halls and seminar rooms. The staff members use Smart boards, LCD projectors and Video clips, making the teaching more interactive, and thereby learning process is made easier for the students.  The department has sufficient and efficient faculty members whose areas of expertise and research include Refrigeration, Design of thermal equipments, Product design, Manufacturing, Mechatronics, CAD, Computer Integrated Manufacturing (CIM), Automobile engineering etc.

PREDOMINANCE  The department has four funded research project grants worth Rs.52 Lacs.  The department has a separate seminar hall with Smart Board, LCD Projector, an overhead projector and guest lectures are conducted with eminent professors from IIT Madras, Anna University Chennai. The department is an approved R & D Centre to do Collaborative research with Anna University Chennai.  The department offers P.G. programs in M.E.CAD/CAM with adequate lab facilities.  The Thermal & Manufacturing technology laboratories are equipped with latest machines.  Students are motivated by doing In-house projects and they are encouraged to present their work in national and International conferences.  The students are exposed to technical and practical knowledge through industrial visits & inplant training to ICF, CVRDE, Lucas TVS, Ennore Thermal Power Plant etc.,  All students & staff are members of professional bodies like SAE, MISTE, ASME.  Many number of students won prizes in various events including sports.

 The department received Best Department Awarded by Staffordshire University, UK for achieving good results in Anna University examinations.  MoU signed between our college and CADD centre for value added courses and with CLRI to do collaborative research.

CIVIL ENGINEERING DEPARTMENT OBJECTIVE To prepare the students with a solid foundation in Mathematics, Sciences, and Technical Skills needed to analyze and design civil infrastructure systems. ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT The faculty members of the department are very dedicated in imparting the knowledge to the students to carry out the analysis of problems and solutions, planning, coordination, calculation, direction and other activities. They make the students qualified to accomplish interdisciplinary jobs in the evaluation not only of aspects concerning design and calculation but also of general features such as economic and social aspects. DEPARTMENT OF COMPUTER APPLICATIONS (M.C.A) PROGRAM DESIGN To create and disseminate computing knowledge and technology for the students to determine and reach their academic and career goals by promoting basic and applied knowledge in Computer Vision and to understand and improve educational practice, information policy and information systems in a diverse society. DEXTERITY The Department stands first in college in Anna University Examination Result There has been a renewed impetus given to research, stimulated in part by submitting research proposals to Research Organization. There by the department is fully committed to the development of research in many areas of research endeavor. These leading figures will nucleate advanced research groups in forefront area. All the MCA students are members of the Professional body CSI (Computer Society of India). DEPARTMENT OF MANAGEMENT SCIENCE (M.B.A) DEPARTMENT OBJECTIVE The Department has a Primary Objective in transforming a student into a Manager. On this primary objective the department has goals in building confidence, imparting more technical and practical knowledge in support with theoretical knowledge and kicking off the fire in oneself matching to the environments need.

PROGRAM FEATURES  The department has organized National level Symposium in the Odd semester and National level Conference in the even semester.  Students of the department are members in professional bodies like MMA, CII, and FICCI and also in Business Line club and Economic Times Club.

I Lakh is granted as a Fund for conducting EDP, MDP, IMC from MSME-Di Govt. of India.  Rs.10,000 is granted as a Fund for conducting Research by MSME-Di Govt. of India.  Rs.40,000 is granted by E-Paxis Automation Pvt. USP (UNIQUE SELLING PROCESS) OF THE DEPARTMENT  The Department organizes a series of workshop, MDP, National Symposium, National Conference in Association with MSME-Di, MMA, CII, and FICCI.  Guest faculties are invited from corporate, academic field, research areas to impart knowledge to the students, Visiting faculty from academics is invited to provide in-depth knowledge on the topic.  Placements are arranged based on the specialization of the students.  Soft skills training to groom the students in areas of presentation, group discussion, interview and management skills. 13

 Industrial visit to different companies like Hyundai, Aavin, Infosys, TVS etc., are arranged to gain practical insight.  Faculty, student interaction for special learning after regular college hours.  Students are encouraged to participate in various management meets conducted and the prize winners are highly encouraged on annual day.  Classes are handled through latest technologies like Power Point presentation, Audio-Video methodology and to provide in-depth knowledge through case study.  Each and every day business news are discussed using Economic Times and Business Line which is issued to each student an individual copy.  Apart from Summer Project work and Main Project work students are practicaly induced into taking assignments on Studying Market, Organization Study, Research Study and Seminar Presentation.  Equal weightage is given to all these activities.

TRAINING AND PLACEMENT CELL The placement Cell acts as a catalyst by focusing on activities that enhance the students‟ career development and employability. Moreover, it fosters activities that aim to empower students to make well thought out career choices. The college has access to a wide spectrum of industries to enable it to set new standard in the field of engineering education. The necessary internship and pre-placement opportunity is provided to the students for them to get easily placed during their dissertation period itself. The industry-college interface fostered at the college is what gives the college a class of its own. ENTREPRENEURSHIP DEVELOPMENT CELL In continuous interval, Institution Motivation Campaigns are conducted to induce the young minds towards entrepreneurship, Followed with 2 or 3 days Entrepreneurship Development Programmes to provide entire information which is needed to start with the business. Apart from this, activities like Management Development Programme, Skill Development Programme are also conducted in association with MSME-Di, Government of India, ITCOT- Government of India, Entrepreneurship Development Institute Government of Tamil Nadu, Entrepreneurship Promotion Institute, Chennai TANSTIA. TRAINING AND PLACEMENT SERVICES The students are being trained in various placement and career guidance activities for improving their academic and placement skills as per the requirements of the IT industries through college placement cell. The college has successfully conducted campus training programme for all the Final Year Students which marked a stepping stone towards the company being coming for campus recruitment. Strength of Placement office Conducting the campus selection process and joint campus selection programs successfully to the satisfaction of the corporate and participating colleges and to conduct various corporate training programs & seminars. The placement office is strengthened with the following infrastructure facilities. Conference Hall to conduct the corporate meets, high-level meetings and discussions. Seminar Hall to conduct corporate training programs & seminars for both students and faculty, which can accommodate 100 members comfortably. Industrial – Institution Interaction As regards Industry-Department interaction, several industrial visits have been organized for the benefit of the students to understand industry practices, skill demands, management practices, industry expectations and market opportunities. Such Industry-Institute Interaction keeps the faculty and students abreast with the advances in technology and helps students meeting the competitive standards of the industry. CENTRE FOR ENGLISH LANGUAGE LEARNING CONSIGNMENT Inculcates the students to develop communication skills, soft skills, grammar, phonetics etc helping them to collaborate with co-workers to participate in quality circles and make them flexible, pro active, creative, smart and skilled to face ever changing, competitive environment. The centre creates an extremely instinctive yearning for learning the language by instigating activity based language atmosphere.

BUSINESS ENGLISH CERTIFICATE COURSE The emphatic enthusiasm offered by the course bridges the students and their freedom of expression to gain shape through the apt use of language and liberation. The students are trained through the course to illuminate themselves in any sort of circumstance. The students fit their place in the society through various levels of the course. The students are exposed to the four basic communication skills – LSRW to unwrap the shield of ignorance. They are encouraged to pass through many levels to test their efficiency in all the four skills. Based on the skill set of students their degree of exposure is made to decide through three stages. Examination is conducted by British Council at the end of the duration of course and duly screened by Cambridge University.

COMMUNICATION SKILL LABORATORY The lab provides a platform to acquire the competency and command over the language. It improves the communication skills, soft skills, presentation skills, phonetics and grammar. The lab enables the students to appear for an interview and make them to face the universal needs and changes. Training is given to the students to develop their traits and career. The lab yields the students to gain self-confidence and to overcome the fear of speaking in public. The lab comprises one IBM X series 3400 (Intel Xeon Processor) connected through 100 Mbps speed network. The software includes Renet digital multimedia and Clarity English language.

GENERAL INFRASTRUCTURE 1. A fully air-conditioned conference hall with a capacity of 120 students, has fixed LCD projector, an overhead projector and other necessary amenities to conduct conferences, seminars and workshops. 2. All students and staff are members in professional bodies like ISTE, CSI, SAEINDIA, IEEE, IET, etc. 3. The Staff members who have presented papers in conferences and international journals are encouraged by the management. 4. Canteen The multi-cuisine cafeteria of the college is a two-storied building which kindles the taste sense and caters to the hunger needs of Guests, Inmates, Visitors, Staff & Students. dine at a time. The cafeteria offers a wide medley of hygienic, nutritious South Indian Vegetarian and Non-vegetarian wholesome edible food. Arrangement has been made for the boys & girls to dine separately. Physical Education Besides the academic activities students would like to get their attention relieved and focused on fun and physique. Sports activities help the students to keep them fit both mentally and physically. The institution provides abundant facilities for the students to get accustomed with the varied sports activities like Basket Ball, Football, Hockey, Cricket, Throw ball, Ball-badminton, Kabbadi, Athletics, Kho-Kho, Volley Ball and indoor games like Badminton, Chess, Carrom, Table Tennis and Weight-lifting. Our students know all the angles to bring laurels to the college and themselves. Participation of our students in 25 sports and games conducted by other colleges. More than 800 students are involved in sports activities inside campus. Zonal Kabbadi and Interzonal Chess Tournaments are conducted in the campus. SA Trophy state level Intercollegiate and School level Tournaments for Basket Ball, Volley Ball & Table Tennis are organized in the college premises and cash prize of Rs. 2.5 Lakhs/- is awarded to the winners of the trophy. Students participate and win prizes in International Karate Competition and Best Physique and Boxing in All India Inter-University Tournament which adds a diamond in the crown of SAEC. Transport The college has a fleet of 30 buses to transport students and staff from various parts of the city and its neighborhood areas to the college.
