Preface These proceedings represent the work of contributors to the 12th European Conference on Innovation and Entrepreneurship (ECIE 2017), hosted this year by Novancia Business School in Paris, France on the 21-22 September 2017. The Conference Chair is Professor Christophe Loué and the Programme Chair is Professor Sonia Ben Slimane. ECIE continues to develop and evolve. Now in its 12th year the key aim remains the opportunity for participants to share ideas in the areas of Innovation and Entrepreneurship and to meet with people who hold them. The scope of papers will ensure an interesting two days. The subjects covered illustrate the wide range of topics that fall into this important and growing area of research. The conference this year will be opened with a keynote presentation by by Jerry Courvisanos on the topic of “Innovation, Sustainable Development and Regional Resilience: Approach to entrepreneurship policy when under crises”. The second day of the conference will begin with a keynote speech given by Thierry Rayna who will be addressing “How Technological Innovation Changes Entrepreneurship: The Case of 3D Printing Technologies”. In addition to the main themes of the conference there are a number of specialist mini tracks on topics including Micro-entrepreneurship, Design Thinking, Entrepreneurial Education and Learning and Social Innovation and Entrepreneurship. With an initial submission of 230 abstracts, after the double blind, peer review process there are 81 Academic research papers, 14 PhD research papers, 3 work-in-progress papers and 1 Non-academic paper published in these Conference Proceedings. These papers represent research from Australia, Belgium, Brazil, China, Colombia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, France Germany, Ghana, Greece, Iceland, India, Indonesia, Iran, Italy, Japan, Kazakhstan, Lithuania, México, Monaco, Namibia, Netherlands, New Zealand, Nigeria, Norway, Oman, Philippines, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Russia, South Africa, Spain, Turkey, United Arab Emirates, UK, USA. Biographies Conference and Programme Chairs Christophe Loué is a professor and researcher at Novancia, a business school specializing in entrepreneurship and commerce run by the Paris and Île de France Chamber of Commerce and Industry. He took up his post as professor at the school after having spent several years as a junior consultant at the Paris CCI’s Directorate of Human Resources. Professor Loué is responsible for courses in Human Resources Management in Novancia’s Bachelor’s and Master’s programs. His current research focuses on the identification of entrepreneurial skills, the acquisition of competences by the students and the measure of their entrepreneurial intention and self-efficacy in pedagogical situations. Sonia Ben Slimane is PhD in Industrial Economics at the University Paris Dauphine PSL and currently Associate professor of Innovation at Novancia Business School. She is holder of the Labex Chair "Nanotechnologies, Ecodesign, Innovation and Strategy" at Novancia Business School. Sonia Ben Slimane has served for 5 years as researcher at IMRI-Université Paris Dauphine. She has participated in several scientific projects with a systemic approach of innovation for ministry, institutional, and national agencies in France. Her field of expertizes covers mainly innovation and ecodesign, sustainable development, and technological transfer. She is member of “Research network on innovation (RNI)”.

Keynote Speakers Jerry Courvisanos is Associate Professor of Innovation and Entrepreneurship in the Federation Business School, Federation University Australia. Trained as an economist, Jerry has taught economics in high schools and higher education institutions in Australia and has had a series of long-term Visiting Scholar positions overseas. Jerry’s basic research is centered on the processes of innovation and their impact on investment, business cycles, sustainable development and the evolution of businesses in both developed and developing countries. This work informs applied research into innovation and entrepreneurial activity for regional and sustainable economic development. Jerry has published two major books on investment and innovation, edited one book on pluralism in economics, many book chapters and peer-reviewed journal articles. Jerry has just completed a visiting scholar position in Timor-Leste to examine sustainable development in this country and to assist in research capacity building of their national university.

Thierry Rayna is Professor of Innovation Management at Novancia Business School Paris. Beforehand, he spent 10 years in the UK, where he held positions at the University of Cambridge, the London School of Economics, University College London and Imperial College. He is a Digital Economy specialist and his research investigates the radical changes that digitisation brings to businesses, industries, and the economy as a whole. Thierry has served as an advisor for companies in the cultural and creative industries, telecom companies, as well as for policymakers. He also mentors start-ups. (Tech.) Muhos has received his doctorate in industrial engineering and management from University of Oulu. Dr Alexandros Kakouris, is an external lecturer in entrepreneurship and innovation at the University of Athens, University of Peloponnese and ASPETE. He holds a PhD in Physics and a MSc in Adult Education. He has been involved in entrepreneurship since 2006, researching educational issues. His special interest concerns fostering entrepreneurship and innovation to science graduates and the support of youth entrepreneurship through counselling. He also specialises in nascent entrepreneurship and experiential learning. Dr Minna Tunkkari-Eskelinen, , is Principal Lecturer at JAMK University of Applied Sciences, Jyväskylä, Finland. Her areas of study are pedagogy, tourism industry and entrepreneurship as well as family business, and she is competent with service design, strategic thinking as well as development methods. She applies entrepreneurial methods and ideology when teaching and coaching students, teachers and micro entrepreneurs. Ruslan Pavlov is a senior researcher at the Central Economics and Mathematics Institute of the Russian Academy of Sciences, and post graduated from the same institution. Dr. Samira Bourgeois earned her PhD in ergonomics and human factor engineering. Her initial research focused on humanmachine interactions, ergonomic analyses of behaviour and best practices in the aviation agency in terms of pilots and air traffic controllers. Samira Bourgeois went on to focus her research on analyses of best practices in the creative process of engineers and writers, based on in-depth analyses of responses to interviews and activity traces. Lawan Amdan Lawan has a degree in Business Administration and a Master of Science in Marketing from the University of Maiduguri. He joined the services of Ramat Polytechnic Maiduguri as an assistant lecturer in the department of marketing in 2006, where he rose to a senior lecturer. (Econ.), is a part time Ph.D. researcher in Westminster Business School, London. She works as a Senior Lecturer in the Haaga-Helia University of Applied Sciences in Helsinki, Finland, and acts a coach for student start-ups.
