Personally, most conspiracy theories, in my opinion, are so far out that there is no base
to e them into reality. Jesse Ventura’s show (is it s ll on the air) made most who find conspirac‐
Dear Trucker's Voice, Q: Do you feel drivers should be allowed to carry guns?
the police pulled out. Said gunman was in full military fa gues. Yet, no one has heard of said man
A: This ques on is a double‐edged sword. The cons tu onalist in me says yes, because above all, our cons tu‐ onal rights should be upheld. At the same me, however, not all are fit to have guns and not go on a psycho‐ pathic shoo ng spree. To be honest, with some of the mental issues that face the trucking industry, as well as the rest of the world, some people shouldn’t be trusted with an 80,000 pound machine. So, in the end, those mentally competent and have not commi ed violent crimes should be allowed to have guns, trucker or not.
having charges pressed or anything else.
ists a li le on the off side develop a dispassionate distaste for them instead.
For once, however, in a very long me, it seems that the conspiracy theorists may have
a foot in the rabbit hole. The reasons why are innumerous. Along the lines of always making peo‐ ple think, let me bring you through the en rety of the theory, and leave you to make your own decision. The mainstream media, upon repor ng the tragedy, reported there was a gunman in the woods
Not only did the gunman access a ghtly locked building, but he also le same said ghtly locked building when it would’ve been locked down further due to the shoo ng spree. Said gunman then went home to Hoboken and killed himself, in a me frame completely improb‐ able in the traffic one would face between Newtown, Connec cut and Hoboken, New Jersey. Right away, he was deemed au s c. Many came out with valida ons of this claim and tes moni‐ als. His autopsy, however, did not show any issues with his brain func oning correctly. The president signs over 20 execu ve orders on gun control, challenging the other lawmakers to strike them down and put “America’s children” in danger.
Q: How do you find a good accoun ng firm that understands trucking? A: First and foremost, steer clear of a large four le er business. We are in the middle of threatening to sue them due to their neglec ul filings and not doing what we paid them to do. While many companies hire ATBS on, it is for their own good, and not an owner‐ operator leased onto them good. I have yet to use any of these, but you may want to check them out and ask for references from them: Trucking Tax CPA CPA Trucking

cons tu onal rights?
Whomever you decide, good luck.
On a side note, the same day as the Sandy Hook massacre, a man in China killed even more young children than in Newtown with a knife. If you take away the guns, they will kill with some‐ thing else.
2nd Annual Trucking Family Apprecia on Week Last year, Joyce Brenny, owner of Brenny Transportation and Brenny Specialized, had an ingenious idea. Everyone celebrates truck driver appreciation week, but what about those that stay at home?
About Our Writer
Joyce made a good point, and many people think. Many trucking wives do not go on the truck with their husband. Instead, they live a life equal to a single mother. After all they raise the kids, do all the family bills, keep control of the house, double up as the repairman, etc; all while married. Their husband comes home for a total of 3‐6 days a month. The children miss Daddy, always asking when he will be home, growing used to the uncertainty as the road deems how often it is necessary. Why wasn’t there a week to celebrate these families? Joyce thought it would only be appropriate that they get their own week of appreciation also. The week won’t make up for missed birthdays, anniversaries, funerals, family reunions, vacations, etc. How‐ ever, it will let them know we know their sacrifices and appreciate what they’re doing to ensure that their trucker keeps America moving. Trucking Appreciation Week this year is February 17‐23, 2013. Make sure they know how much you appreciate them!

With the mo o of “Welcome to the Dark Side of the Interna onal Trucking Community,” Heather Pontruff, also known as The Trucker’s Voice, is sure to catch a spark. Heather, a daughter of a truck driver, had ambi ons of driving un l a rare birth defect took her out of being able to legally haul (she did, however, drive outlaw before this injury). She stayed current with the issues, and never let her love of the diesel below her feet die. In 1999, Heather met Lou Obadal, and be‐ came part of a working trucking team. It is here that she decided to bring her rare, unique personality into what is known as a male domi‐ nated industry, taking no prisoners on her slow rise to the top. A true grassroots movement, Heather works on many levels. She’s best known for bluntness, being poli cal‐ ly incorrect, and being unapologe c. She’s an advocate not only for truck‐ ers, but also for the LGBT and Pagan communi es, essen ally crea ng a unique following. From crea ng conversa ons to giving both in depth and up‐to‐date reports to life coaching, she tries to be there for every person who needs her. She prides herself for coming from 10 people in December of 1999 to tens of thousands currently. We are so happy to have her as our permanent writer, and advice columnist. The World Owes Truckers??? Truckers haul stuff down the road. They drive in adverse conditions, sometimes tired and sick, to ensure the people at home can buy stuff at a store, have stuff built, and many other things, including the gas to put in their car. Lately, however, is a movement that can only be seen as part of the New Age Trucker Driver (NATD) movement. Instead of knowing the full history of trucking and how truckers have never been the heroes that mainstream Hollywood movies make you believe, they honestly believe people should bow down and kiss their ass. These same people do not understand that truckers nowadays are literally a dime a dozen. For every one that leaves, 10 to 100 fill their place. Why is this “you owe truckers, now kiss my ass” movement so popular? Why do so many jump on the bandwagon? Where did it start? Will it ever end? Many drivers now aren’t in it for the same reasons as people who’ve been in it for a long amount of time. They’re here simply because there are no other jobs in their original field, so they start looking for better opportunities and hear: “Get paid to see the world.” “It’s an easy job anyone can do and you can start off making thousands a month.” “Become a paid tourist.” When the pipe dreams are finally realized to not be reality, the grow bitter. More than just that, they are used to a job where people thank and praise them for something as small as screwing in a piece of metal. They are now thrust into a world where someone will yell at you for being early and decap‐ itate you for being late. They want respect! Somehow or another, some numbskull figured DEMANDING respect was the answer. Threatening to go on strike, even though it’s illegal and will not be done, as to scare a mother who needs formula for her baby. Yep, that just got you a whole world of respect. Threatening to hurt people who need what you can deliver doesn’t even work for the Teamsters anymore. Here’s how you get respect. Comb your hair, shave your dreadlocked face with the pizza crumbs last night still in it, shower daily, don’t throw your piss and shit in parking lots, quit thinking basketball shorts and cut off t‐shirts is appropriate attire to represent your industry, and learn some fucking manners! Maybe, just maybe, then people will respect truck drivers. Until then, quit your bitchin!
