Licence to Operate a

Forklift Truck A Registered Training Organisation Operating a Forklift Truck is defined as High Risk Work under the WHS legislation. That means people who need to operate a Forklift Truck must hold a LF licence. To apply for a Forklift Truck Licence the applicant must pass the national assessment. This course is designed to help participants pass such assessment. Comet Training is approved by the national authority ASQA and WorkCover NSW to deliver this course.

Course Outline This course covers skills and knowledge required to safely operate a forklift truck. Training includes theory training and practical training in the following areas: • operator responsibilities; •

WHS requirements;



pre operational checks;



safe operation; and



maintenance

Assessment Method There is a two part assessment process: a written/verbal knowledge assessment and a practical performance assessment. To be competent participants must pass both parts of the assessment. The assessment is conducted by a NSW WorkCover accredited Assessor.

Course Outcome Successful participants will be issued with a Statement of Attainment and a WorkCover “Notice of Satisfactory Assessment” Form to submit to WorkCover (via Australia Post) with the application for their LF ticket. Under the NSW Fair Trading CPD scheme, successful participants will be eligible for 32 CPD points.

A 3 day course including 2 days training & 1 day assessment. Participants must be over 18 years of age and need to produce 100 points ID at the beginning of the assessment. Please refer to the ID requirement document for details. Participants must hold the WorkCover General Induction for Construction Card (White Card). Participants should wear normal enclosed shoes . Bring work boots for practical training. Participants are expected to have a good command of English as all course materials and assessments are conducted in English. Interpreters are not permitted for this course. Please refer to Comet’s Course Schedule and Student Handbook for details of course dates, course fees and refund policy.
