Summer Road Condition Definitions OPEN OPEN: No safety threat to the public due to weather conditions. Proceed with normal operations.

CLOSED CLOSED: Restriction of all traffic on FLW. Emergency vehicles are unrestricted (MP's, ambulance, fire truck and DPW vehicles. Non-emergency vehicles must obtain approval from CG (Commanding General) or Authorized delegated Officer. POV travel will be restricted to mission essential personnel only.

Winter Road Condition Definitions GREEN GREEN: No safety threat to the public due to weather conditions. Proceed with normal operations.

AMBER AMBER: Road conditions are difficult to hazardous with patches of ice or packed snow. Limit travel to essential traffic. Drivers must slow to 10 MPH below the posted speed limit to maintain traction and a safe stopping distance. IET Soldiers will not operate TVs or NTVs under AMBER, RED, or BLACK road conditions. TVs or NTVs dispatched must be approved by an O-5 Commander in the command concerned.

RED RED: Road conditions are deemed or considered extremely hazardous. Packed snow 4-8", drifting snow; sheet ice. Safe travel is 10-15 MPH. Travel by TVs or NTVs is limited to emergency operations (emergency vehicles, DPW and SNAIR Support Team mission essential vehicles). The brigade commander in the direct chain of command will have dispatch approval authority for NTVs.

BLACK BLACK: Road conditions present a real risk of life or limb. Heavy drifting snow; packed snow 8" or more; black ice. All traffic on FLW is restriced with the exception of emergency vehicles, DPW and SNAIR Support Team mission essential vehicles. Non-emergency vehicles must obtain approval from CG (Commanding General) or authorized delegated Officer. POV travel will be restricted to mission essential personnel only and will not be used in lieu of military vehicles.

Media Announcements Personnel who live in housing on post are requested to avoid parking on the sides of the street. Please remember to slow down, wear seatbelts, and don't follow other vehicles too closely on wet or snow/ice covered roads. Check for the latest on local road conditions and the weather forecast prior to leaving home or work. Road conditions outside the gate in outlying areas may be in worse condition. Please be careful.
