You’ll earn the maximum per $1 spent when using your American Express card for eligible transactions overseas and at a Higher Points Merchant, which means a business or organisation in Australia classified as a ‘supermarket’, ‘department store’ or ‘service (petrol) station’ for the purposes of American Express transactions, excluding any business or organisation paid using an intermediary payment platform, for example, PayPal; and 0.5 points per $1 spent using your American Express card everywhere else. To start earning Qantas points, you need to be a member of the Qantas Frequent Flyer program, and opt into Qantas Frequent Flyer Direct. Once you’re signed up, all future CommBank Awards points earned will be automatically transferred to your Qantas Frequent Flyer account monthly.

With Velocity Frequent Flyer, the global frequent flyer program of Virgin Australia, you can earn and redeem Velocity Frequent Flyer Points around the globe with their network of program partners. Use your Velocity Frequent Flyer Points to travel to over 500 destinations worldwide with Virgin Australia and their airline partners, including Singapore Airlines, Etihad Airways, Air New Zealand and Delta Air Lines.
