The baby seat shell is mounted facing away from the direction of travel, either on the rear seat, or, provided the airbag is deactivated, on the front passenger seat. The baby seat can be detached from the mounting frame, and used separately as a carrycot. With detachable sun screen. Available in various colour schemes. 3 BMW junior seat II-III Suitable for children weighing 15 to 36kg (aged approx. 3 to 12 years). The seat can be quickly and easily secured in place with the three-point belt. The height of the seat and position of the headrest and side bolsters can be adjusted with one hand, and the seat offers outstanding

lateral support. The adjustable backrest makes the BMW junior seat II-III perfect for long journeys, and the removable cover is machine-washable. Available in various colour schemes. 4 Coat hanger Can be easily attached to the headrest and removed again. 5 Halogen reading lamp Suitable for map reading. The flexible arm allows you to adjust the light beam in any direction.

6 Seat back storage pocket Containing compartments of different sizes, this storage pocket matches the dimensions of the front seats precisely, and can be fitted on either the driver or passenger side. It is the perfect place to store small items. Available in black and lemon. Belt holder (see page 24) Attaches quickly and simply to the headrest support bars, ensuring the belt is easily reachable in any sitting position. 7 Multi-functional rucksack Made of hard-wearing material, this large rucksack is incredibly versatile. Boasting comfortable straps and a wealth of features, it fits exactly onto the back seat, to which it can be attached by a strap on the underside of the centre armrest. 8 Protective rear cover This separable cover protects both the rear seat bench and door linings. It is water and dirt-repellent, and features openings for three-point belts, which also allow items such as the dog safety harness to be fitted.

Exterior 10 | 11 1 BMW Integrated Navigation System Pro Designed for use both in and outside the car. The highresolution 4.3-inch touch screen display offers 2D and 3D map views. The BMW Portable Navigation System Pro is also packed with features such as pre-installed maps covering 33 European countries, audio output via the vehicle’s loudspeakers (additional coding required), voice recognition, and a built-in TMC function. Slots securely into a special mounting in the dashboard, which also recharges its battery. Also available is the BMW Portable Navigation System Plus. Digital roadmap update disc (see page 23) Up-to-date digital roadmaps enable the factory fitted navigation system to work out the best route in no time at all. 2 Snap-in adapter with USB interface A robust docking system suitable for current Motorola, Nokia and SonyEricsson mobiles, plus RIM BlackBerry® and Apple iPhone™ devices. With the interchangeable phone-specific snap-in adapter, the mobile phone can be charged via the Bluetooth mobile phone preparation. An external aerial ensures the best possible reception at all times. Using the snap-in adapter, music files stored on the phone can also be played back via the vehicle’s audio system without an adapter cable. Also available without USB interface.

3 Basic Bluetooth hands-free kit

For common Nokia, Sony Ericsson and Motorola mobiles, and RIM BlackBerry® and Apple iPhone™ devices. Allows drivers to make and receive calls easily and safely even when on the move. The connection between the handset and the hands-free kit is established wirelessly via Bluetooth. Voice output through the hands-free kit can be activated via the multi-function steering wheel, radio, iDrive Controller or Voice Control. Telephone numbers and incoming caller IDs are shown on the radio and/or control display.

4 Reversing camera Clearly shows the area behind the vehicle on the control display. Interactive track lines show whether or not the parking space in question is big enough for the vehicle. The reversing camera is automatically activated when reverse gear is engaged. Availability depends on other equipment fitted. Park Distance Control (see page 23) Makes parking and manoeuvring in tight spaces much easier. The distance between obstacles and the car is communicated by an acoustic warning and, depending on the other equipment fitted, may also be shown in the control display. 5 Stolen vehicle recovery* BMW Trackstar is a small covert device installed in your vehicle which utilises state of the art technology to accurately locate stolen vehicles. Dependent on the device selected, BMW Trackstar attracts full Thatcham Quality Accreditation (TQA) or Thatcham Category 5 Accreditation. You can also upgrade your BMW Trackstar to feature Trackstar On-Demand, Smartnav and Safespeed. For full details please contact your local BMW Dealer.

1 Universal DVD System Consists of two portable 7-inch monitors, plus two holders that are attached to the headrest support bars. The DVD system can be plugged in to the vehicle’s 12V power socket. The DVD player, which is integrated into one of the monitors, can play video DVDs, and photo and audio CDs (including MP3 format). In addition, JPEG images and music files on USB sticks and memory cards of various formats can be viewed or listened to. Audio playback is via either the monitors’ built-in loudspeakers, or headphones such as the infrared stereo headphones from BMW.

2 BMW DVD system in rear Consists of a 7-inch colour monitor built into the centre console and a DVD player. The DVD system plays DVD videos and audio CDs in excellent quality. It also allows you to view or listen to JPEG images, MP3 music files and video files in common formats stored on CD-ROM, USB sticks or external hard drives with USB connection. When the monitor is not in use, it can be rotated 180 degrees and folded away into the armrest, protecting it from any damage. External devices such as games consoles or video cameras can be connected via the additional AV socket.

3 iPodTM interface The interface connects the iPod™ directly to your vehicle’s audio system: playlists and artist, song and genre information can be viewed on the control display or radio, and music can be selected using the iDrive Controller, the multi-function steering wheel or the radio. The iPod™ is stored within easy reach in the centre console, and the battery is charged during playback through the vehicle’s electrical system.

4 CD changer Built into the luggage compartment. For up to six audio or MP3 CDs. 5 Infrared stereo headphones Specially designed for use with the BMW DVD system in the rear of the vehicle (Fig. 2). They are exceptionally comfortable, while delivering outstanding sound quality, and allowing wearers to control their listening volume. 6 BMW USB stick Memory capacity of 8GB. With the BMW roundel.

1 Bicycle holder for trailer tow hitch, lockable Winner of the Red Dot Award for innovative product design. Suitable for carrying two bicycles. An extension set for a third bicycle is available. Even when loaded, the holder can be lowered out of the way allowing you to open the tailgate.

3 Rear-mounted carrier, lockable Suitable for carrying two bicycles. Even when loaded, the carrier can be lowered out of the way when you want to open the tailgate. It can be attached quickly and easily to the screw points of the tow eyelets, and as such, is suitable for vehicles without the trailer tow hitch.

2 Bicycle lift Allows a bicycle to be effortlessly lifted onto the roof rack and removed again. Suitable for different bicycle sizes.

4 Touring cycle holder, lockable Robust attachment for transporting a bicycle with a frame diameter of 25 to 80mm, also suitable for mountain bikes. A single locking set for fitting up to four touring cycle holders on the base support system is available.

The BMW base support system is equipped with an anti-theft feature and complies with the most stringent safety requirements. Available for vehicles with roof railing. 2 Ski and snowboard holder, lockable Suitable for carrying two snowboards and two pairs of skis, or up to six pairs of skis. Poles can also be carried.

1 Luggage compartment tie-down straps Two tear-resistant tie-down straps secure items in the luggage compartment quickly and safely. Available with two different fastening mechanisms. 2 Luggage compartment tray Shatterproof, acid-proof and impact-resistant. The tray fits precisely into the luggage compartment floor. 3 Luggage compartment floor net Attaches to the eyelets that are fitted as standard to the floor of the luggage compartment.
