I love this book because it makes me smile. My favourite character is Rachel because she is cool.

Suddenly Daisy’s eyes widened and a huge smile crept across her face. “SHOOTER!!!” she squealed dropping on to her knees. It wasn’t a mouse that her cat had found, it was a snake. A Colorado garter to be exact.

Hetty Feather was christened her name at the Foundling Hospital when she was a baby, but is sure her mum named her sapphire, because of her bright blue eyes. Before she could return to the grim hospital, Hetty had to go and live a poor but happy life in the country. Just as she was getting happy her life is threatened again as she has to go to the hospital again. Will she maybe find her mum though?

This book is a fantastic book about a girl called Isadora. She loves horses and owns a horse called Blaze. She has to get up to her Auntie Hester’s house for the summer holidays. When she realises the rangers are going to cull a wild herd she is desperate to save them. I really loved this book. I really want to read more of the series.

Sapphire Battersea has finally escaped from the Foundling Hospital – to be a polite, good tempered, hard working girls – AS IF! She manages to shout at the master and stick her tongue out at him, getting sacked, so decides to go to the seaside. Her mum who she managed to discover who it is, is ill. But will she ever get better?

‘The Hobbit’ J.R.R Tolkien It’s about a hobbit called Bilbo Baggins who is taken from his home by Gandalf the Wizard and Thorin and his band of dwarves to the Lonely Mountain, an ancient dwarven kingdom with a colossal treasure horde guarded by the dragon Smaug. As they are kidnapped by trolls, attacked by giant spiders, captured by elves, ensnared in the battle of the five armies and eventually defeating Smaug and taking the treasures, Bilbo has hidden a small but very dangerous ring…

to the 2012 edition of our Good Read Guide. This year’s entries have been great and we have really enjoyed looking at them all. The guide features some old favourites such as J.R.R. Tolkien, C.S. Lewis and Roald Dahl, as well as some modern favourites such as Julia Donaldson and Eoin Colfer. There are even reviews of some of the R.L. Stine Goosebumps books from some of our braver readers.

Enjoy the reviews and pictures and we hope they will encourage you to search out some of the books at you local library.

During a storm in N.Y., Emily is in the top apartment of a flat. While her Dad is out working a big crash hits her roof-garden. She walks up and sees… a white horse but she doesn’t know ’Pegasus’ is from Olympus and has escaped a nasty battle and is looking for the ‘Daughter of Vesta’. Emily must help Pegasus and his friends. They encounter the Secret Government Forces and ‘NIRADS’! Could this be the end of Olympus?
