General Snowmobile Information

• In Grand Teton National Park, snowmobiling is allowed only on the frozen surface of Jackson Lake to Best Available Technology (BAT) snowmobiles to provide access for ice fishing. (see reverse side for a list of approved snowmobile models) • Any snowmobile certified to meet Yellowstone BAT standards that is less than 10 years old with an odometer reading less than 6,000 miles is allowed in Grand Teton National Park. • In the John D. Rockefeller, Jr. Memorial Parkway, the Grassy Lake Road is open to any snowmobile. BAT is not required. • Guides are not required on either Jackson Lake or the Grassy Lake Road. • Travel on the Continental Divide Snowmobile Trail between Moran Junction and Flagg Ranch is discontinued. • In Yellowstone National Park, snowmobilers must be part of a commercially guided snowmobile tour. Commerical guide services operate out of Jackson, WY and other Yellowstone gateway communities. • Entrance fees for Grand Teton National Park are $5 per vehicle for a one day pass or $25 per vehicle for a seven day pass. Entrance fees for guided excursions to Yellowstone National Park vary. Please check with your concessioner for pricing. All snowmobiles in Yellowstone must meet 2012-13 Best Available Technology standards.

A person operating a snowmobile must possess a valid motor vehicle operator’s license. No temporary or learner’s permits.



Snowmobiles must be properly registered and display a valid registration from the United States or Canada.



All snowmobiles must have a working headlight and a red taillight. Lights should be on at all times for safety.
