COURSE OUTLINE


Chapters to be covered: Introduction and Chapters 1α - 8β. Course requirements: Set aside at least 8 hours per week. You must hand in the assigned exercises and translations from each chapter. and in addition be prepared to demonstrate (i.e. show me) that you have done the self-correcting material for each chapter. Where I ask that you read material aloud, you may do record this, or read to me in my office.

Course tests: 1. Practice test - 2β. This test will not count towards your final grade. It is designed to give you some idea of what the tests will include. 2.

Test - 4β; includes ALL material from Introduction and earlier chapters. You may take this test ONLY after you have completed and handed in all the work up to the end of 4β. 30%

Test - 6β; includes ALL material from Introduction and earlier chapters. You may take this test ONLY after you have completed and handed in all the work up to the end of 6β. 30%

4.

Final - 8β; includes ALL material from Introduction and earlier chapters. This exam will take place during the final exam period. I will expect you to have completed and handed in all the work to the end of 8β. 40%

Test contents: tests and final will usually include the following material: Vocabulary drill: Greek to English English to Greek Grammar drill: demonstrating the ability to decline nouns, conjugate verbs English to Greek translating short sentences to demonstrate understanding of grammatical structure Greek to English one short passage from the stories that you have done one longer passage you have not seen


Course materials: You can buy the course texts from the bookstore. Also, you should pick up from the instructor the following additional material: 1. Commentaries on each chapter of the text, which will include an answer key to part of the exercises in each chapter of the text; vocabulary list (no cost) 2.
