SB CAMPUS PAST, PRESENT & FUTURE A SB is constantly changing & evolving but our sense of community and modern focus is always at the heart of everything we do.

THEN

Originally set up as the new home of the Midland Agricultural & Dairy College in 1919, Sutton Bonington became part of the University of Nottingham since it was granted its royal charter in 1948. Ever since then our campus has expanded and developed and now houses both the School of Biosciences and School of Veterinary Medicine & Science with a total of about 2000 students.

Welcome Guide TOP TIPS

Welcome Week 2013 Make sure you come along to the welcome address on Sunday evening. There you’ll learn more about us (the guild) and what we have to offer you. You’ll also meet the Week one reps who you’ll come to love and our Warden; Dr Ian Hardy. Then straight after that it’s back to the Rushcliffe for a FREE PIZZA BUFFET courtesy of the Guild (We know you love us!).

A To make sure that you settle in quickly and comfortably we’ve got some top tips to get the most out of freshers’ week: 1)

Relax, have fun and make sure you enjoy yourself! It’s going to be a very busy week but one you wont forget. You will meet lots of new people (And don’t worry, you will forget their names as quickly as they forget yours!)

2) Make sure you go to both the Freshers’ Fair at University Park and our own at SB. This will showcase all of the societies you can become part of 3) Bring some passport photos with you. I guarantee that you will need these for meal cards and many other things! 4) Bring a vast selection of fancy dress. You will need it to make the most of our famous SB bar nights and those in Nottingham or further afield! 5) If you play an instrument and want to play at Uni, especially our open mic nights or our orchestra, make sure you bring your instrument! 6) Bring some cash and make sure you’ll have enough money for freshers’ week. There are lots of tickets and memberships to pay for! (We do have a cash machine on campus though) 7) Bring some food and cooking equipment. You won’t have time to go shopping. Luckily your evening meals are all catered for (only Monday to Friday) but it’s always good to have something to snack on! If you’re worried or need some help please come and speak to someone on the Guild or one of the week one reps! We’re here to help you and make sure you have the best first week and university experience.

CHEERS

SB BAR

h

On your first weekend at SB you will most likely become acquainted with the Bar. Along with drinks (alcoholic and non alcoholic) you will also find the Pool table, darts board and football table. The bar is considered the social hub of our campus! You can use this as an area to relax and socialise. It also becomes the party venue of the campus; hosting most events such as Headbangers’ ball, open mic nights and post-dining in parties. Other events in the bar include pub quizzes and open pool competitions. The bar is open from 7pm every night for drinks but is open during the day as a meeting place and common area. Lunches can be purchased from the bistro (Monday to Friday) between 12:30 & 2pm.

Certainly gives all the girls a chance to whip out your posh frocks and the guys a chance to dust off your suits. Normally, there are 5 dining ins throughout the year, Masquerade, Christmas, Valentines, OKA and St Patricks each with a band and after party for entertainment.
