Guitar Virtuosos on stage this Sunday Wet Mountain Tribune, Thursday, October 14, 2010 In Concertʼs first sponsored performance of the 2010-2011 Season takes place at the Jones Theater this Sunday, October 17th at 2 PM. In Concert welcomes the Iliff Guitar Quartet and the Sakura Guitar Duo, for their first performances in Westcliffe. The Sakura Guitar Duo will open the performance with duet music from French and Spanish composers, followed by the full Quartetʼs performance of a wide variety of classical-style music from as long ago as the late 1700s, and music by contemporary guitar performers who compose especially for guitar. The Iliff Guitar Quartet was formed in 2006, by four guitar students at the University of Denverʼs Lamont School of Music. All of them were studying with the famous guitar virtuoso Ricardo Iznaola. The instant success of the Quartet was due both to their sensitive musicianship and their technical virtuosity. The quartet was the First Place prize winner at 2009 Annual Chamber Competition hosted by the Lamont School of Music. The Sakura Guitar Duo consists of one member of Iliff Guitar Quartet plus another talented guitarist. More about the individual performers will be included in the programs to be passed out at the concert. In addition to the music performances, there will be an art show by the Monday Art Group from

1 to 4 p.m. in Studio 2 of the Jones Theater. A reception after the performance will be held to meet the performers. Light refreshments will be served. Saeveral restaurants are offering a 10% discount on meals (other than alcoholic beverages) on the day of the concert to attendees. Show tickets for ticket stubs at Edwardoʼs, The Feed Store, Letter Drop Inn, Poag Mahoneʼs, Rancherʼs Roost and Sangrita. Advance tickets are available at Candyʼs Coffee. Season tickets are $39 for the three season concerts. Single-concert patron tickets are $25, adult tickets are $15, and student tickets are $5. Welcome to all who will surely enjoy the variety of guitar quartet music to be performed.
