EVALUATION OF ECO-ENTREPRENEURSHIP FOR ECOTOURISM IN DÜZCE Pınar GÜLTEKİN Düzce Univeristy [email protected] Yaşar Selman GÜLTEKİN Düzce Univeristy [email protected] ABSTRACT Eco-entrepreneurship or Eco-entrepreneurship covers the entire range of activities that will reduce the negative impacts on people and the environment, while increasing the positive contribution of enterprises and activities to their enterprise objectives. This process is shaped within the context of sustainable development and growth objectives, is taken into account from the establishment stage of the business, and includes long-term and environment-oriented practices. The concept of ecotourism has emerged as a reaction to mass tourism and has been accepted as one of the best methods to be followed to ensure sustainable development. Environmentally sensitive tourism, ecotourism; Entrepreneurship studies that are sensitive to ecological environment have taken the foreground of eco-entrepreneurship and both areas have begun to take place in the literature in a conceptual and practical way. In this study, evaluations were made about the concept of eco-entrepreneurship in the enterprises providing services in ecotourism activities in Düzce, which has a high ecotourism potential with its natural and cultural resources and located at a distance from the metropolises of Istanbul and Ankara. Ecotourism enterprises such as local restaurants, hotels and pensions, transportation, tour operators etc. has been determined for the potential of eco-entrepreneurship. Questions have been asked to determine the views of participants on participatory, environmental awareness, ecotourism and ecotourism types, who may be stakeholders in ecotourism and eco-entrepreneurship, and what might be the expectations of eco-tourists, especially those who consume products. As a result of the study, the suggestions were made about the ecotourism potentials of Düzce the expectations of the tourists and the potentials of the enterprises serving in the ecotourism sector as eco-entrepreneurs.
