The Octavio Ianni Library at IFCH is one of the major humanities libraries in Brazil and Latin America. This recognition is mainly due to the quality of its collection, which is a benchmark for researchers in the field. There are more than 200,000 items, including books, dissertations, theses, videos, digital files, approximately 3,000 journal titles and a special art history collection. The library also provides a vast number of digital research resources. The Edgard Leuenroth Archive was formed from the collection of documents gathered by the labor activist and anarchist for whom the collection was named. Subsequently, it received several records representing the social, political and cultural history of Brazil, Latin America, Asia and Africa. The collection includes more than 550 linearmeters of manuscripts and more than 11,500 journal titles, in addition to photos, posters, vinyl records, audio tapes, videos, CDs, DVDs, sheet music, maps and cinematographic films.

Institute of Philosophy and the Humanities
The Institute of Philosophy and the Humanities - IFCH has its origin in the former Department of Economics and Social Planning, created by the founder of Unicamp, Zeferino Vaz, in 1968, in the pioneering days of the implementation of the University. Until the mid-1970s, the social sciences at Unicamp shared space with the economics and linguistics programs. Subsequently, these 3 areas were separated into autonomous institutes. The master’s programs were mostly established in the 1970s, before the undergraduate programs. Between the 1980s and 1990s, the PhD programs were created. At the undergraduate level, IFCH awards bachelor degrees and trains teachers in the Social Sciences, Philosophy and History. Its graduate program trains teachers, researchers and professionals for the production of scientific knowledge and to meet the growing needs of research institutions, the public sector and the Brazilian university system. At the graduate level, the Institute has 7 master's and PhD programs: Social Anthropology, Political Science, Demography, Philosophy, History, International Relations (inter-institutional in nature, administered in conjunction with 2 other universities) and Sociology. There are also 2 PhD programs in the Environment and Society and the Social Sciences. Awarded scores by the Coordination for the Improvement of Higher Education Personnel (Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior - Capes) that indicate the excellence level and international standard achieved by the Institute, the programs gather faculty members who are respected for their skilled scientific production and are supported by 2 dozen research centers and groups on diverse topics based at the Institute.
