Statement of Purpose The human organism uses many mechanisms to adjust to the environment. The environment frequently produces stress that requires coping strategies in order to survive. An individual's experiences as well as his established behavior patterns determine which strategies he will use. This module focuses on the common defense mechanisms used by individuals to adjust to the stresses of every day life situations.
There are many other defense mechanisms. The student is urged to study them thoroughly. 3.
