About Lancashire Dance Academy Lancashire Dance Academy was founded in 2008 by Lynsey Kidd. Lynsey started dancing at the age of 6; she then went on to gain a prestigious place at The Royal Ballet school aged 11. During her time at The Royal Ballet School, she performed with the Royal Ballet Company in their productions of Nutcracker and Swan Lake along with the London city Ballet in a production of Coppelia. Lysney also experienced training at the Vaganova Academy in Leningrad, Russia. Lynsey completed her training at the Central School of Ballet, graduating with three highly sought after contracts: Meg in the West End musical Phantom of the Opera, London city Ballet, and Northern Ballet. Lynsey secured a contract with The Northern Ballet and spent eleven years performing nationally and internationally. On retiring from the stage Lynsey went on to achieve distinction in both I.S.T.D. and I.D.T.A. teaching qualifications; she now teaches at various vocational schools as well as Lancashire Dance Academy. Lynsey is a member of the Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing (I.S.T.D.), one of the world’s leading dance examinations boards. From Ballet to Ballroom, the I.S.T.D. cover the full spectrum of genres, and for more than 100 years, have provided training for dance teachers and examiners, enabling them to enter their students for examinations, to develop new techniques and to spread the joy of dance.
Lancashire Dance Academy: what we offer
Ballet The Cecchetti method of Classical Ballet offers a complete and well structured system of training which caters for the small child through to the professional dancer and the future teacher. Enjoyment is of prime importance for a young child beginning to dance and the Class Examinations and Performance Awards provide ideal opportunities for those attending classes for recreational purposes on a once a week basis. For children wishing to study in greater depth, there are the more technically demanding Grade Examinations. In all the children's work a steady build up and safe practice are of great importance. Students at Lancashire Dance academy take a ballet exam each summer. Tap
