EXPERIENCE

I’m presently on a 10-month fellowship teaching at the premier public university of the Philippines. I teach standard university courses in English as well as faculty workshops, student seminars, and staff development courses. The principal focus of my fellowship has been the Differentiated Instruction Program (DIP), wherein students identified as having persistent problems with English have been offered an intensive auxiliary program based on rigorous quantitative research into the specific needs of PLM. At Grayson College I was the founding director of an Intensive English Program servicing primarily west-African francophone students. I was responsible for the program budget, hiring, curriculum design, assessment, and teaching. Students enrolled in the IEP for one semester had an average gain of about 80 TOEFL points. Working as a freelance developer of educational materials, I've designed courses and written textbooks for several public and private organizations, including the US Department of Housing and Urban Development, and Korean educational publishers Daekyo and Nexus. My work in this sector has frequently involved intercultural communications skills and team leadership responsibilities.
