Na’La Brown, Anson County 4-H Youth, Attends NCACC Youth Summit
Na’La Brown, a 4H’er from Anson, attended the sixth annual North Carolina Association of County Commissioners (NCACC) Youth Summit, which was held in Greenville, North Carolina on August 21-22. North Carolina 4-H and the North Carolina Cooperative Extension Service partnered for the sixth year with the NCACC on a multi-year initiative to increase youth involvement in county government. This initiative aims to overcome the mindset that many youth are disengaged and lack trust in government. Na’La joined over 100 youth and adults from 80 counties in North Carolina at the event. It is sponsored and supported by the North Carolina Association of County Commissioners. For more information on the 4-H program in Anson County please contact Roshunda Terry at 704-694-2915. The 4-H program is the youth education program of North Carolina Cooperative Extension, based at North Carolina State and North Carolina A&T State universities. More than 232,000 young people ages 5 through 18 participate in North Carolina 4-H activities each year with the help of more than 20,563 adult and youth volunteers. Anson County Parks and Recreation Fall Registration This fall Anson County Parks and Recreation is offering Youth Flag Football K-6 grade, Tee Ball 4-6 years old, Coach Pitch Baseball 7-8 years old, Micro Soccer 3-4years old, and Youth Soccer K-12 grade. The deadline to register is August 31. All of the sports are $25, except Youth Flag Football is $30.
