MATH & ENGLISH Combo Classes, Gr. SKSK-8 This is JUKU’s most popular class. Students can start at anytime and at any level. Poor to average students will be able to practice what they are learning at school and good students can be challenged beyond their current grade level. From $45/month. Once a week, 2 hours per session. Flexible schedule. Family discounts (20%-30%), Ontario Curriculum Recommended For: (1) Average to excellent students who want to be challenged every week. (2) Poor students should supplement this class with a homework-help class. (3) SK students can attend if they are mature enough to sit through 2 hours of classes; otherwise, SK students can attend a “Learn-to-Read” class.

Juku’s Goals: (1) To continually assess students to ensure their “JUKU work” is at the appropriate level. (2) To help student’s understand their weekly work by teaching on an individual basis. (3) To provide homework that reviews what they just learned. (4) To allow students to work at an advanced pace through the Ontario curriculum. It is not unusual for students to be working 1 or 2 grades ahead of their school level. (5) To offer an affordable and flexible program that meets the needs of academically-focused families. Students can attend any Juku centre any day of the week (Markham/Scarborough./Stouffville).

Methodology: Students will be given classwork and homework that is appropriate for their level. Although the work is based on Ontario curriculum guidelines, the emphasis in English is on spelling, grammar, vocabulary, and writing skills. The emphasis in Math is on computational and numeration skills in the early grades and algebra and geometry in the later grades. Once students have completed their classwork, they will have their work marked and graded. Students will be required to correct any errors. Teacher’s and Facilitators will: mark and grade the work; explain new topics; and help with incorrect answers. There are three grades every week: math; English; and homework. Each class will end with an end-of-class game, with J-Points going to the winning team. The studentof-the-day will win a special prize. During the year, there are additional events: hot dog days; popcorn days; toy box surprises; CAT exams; Da Vinci Bee; Movie/Games nights; Awards night,...

Try a Two Week Trial: This class comes with a two class trial period for new students. For more information, please visit a school or call/text the Director, Mr. Paul Tazumi (416) 737-7285. [email protected]
