Matter Project Menu This is worth a test grade. This will be created in class. You may bring in resources, materials, background information, etc. from home to help you during class time. Using study hall or after school help group is also encouraged. If you are absent, it is your responsibility to make up the missed time. See your teacher and group members to arrange this. Due date: Thursday, November 13th (at the end of your Science class). Ten points will be deducted from your score for every school day that it is late.
1. Create characters for solid, liquid and gas (three total). Your project should include a pictorial representation and a one page character description for each. The characters can be people, animals or imaginary characters. Information on changes of state need to somehow be included as well. 2. Create a brochure which explains the three states of matter. You may use the computer to do this or do it “by hand.” Your brochure should include diagrams, charts or graphs which describe each state, as well as information about changes of state. 3. Create a crossword puzzle on the topic of states of matter and changes of state. Your project should include 25 clues and an answer key. 4. Conduct a demonstration on 3 of the changes of matter. Prepare index cards with the important facts and details regarding your demonstration. For instance, materials, procedure of what you are doing, explanations, etc. 5. Write a song about states of matter and changes of matter. You may perform the song or record it on tape for the class to hear. Lyrics should also be written or typed. 6. Create a chart which shows at least 8 different substances in their various states of matter. This may be done on a computer or “by hand.” You should include their boiling and melting points.
