COURSE DESCRIPTION The aim of this course is to introduce the students to main issues in international relations discipline and provide a general framework for understanding the processes of globalization and the changing meanings of governance and order. The impact of globalization on different structures and processes of world politics, including security, political economy, international organizations, and human rights will be the main focus of this course. COURSE REQUIREMENTS Other than weekly reading assignments, course requirements include one in-class midterm examination and a final examination. GRADING Mid-term Exam Final Exam

COURSE POLICIES This course will be mainly structured around lectures but will also include in-class discussions. Students are expected to do all the required reading for each week to follow discussions and participate in class. Regular attendance is essential for the successful completion of the course. In order to qualify for getting a make-up exam, the student should contact me before the midterm examination takes place (not after). Correspondence will be carried out via “Online METU”. It is the student’s responsibility to make sure that his/her name appears on the course list, and to regularly check the email account which is registered with Online METU. OFFICE HOURS I encourage students to visit during office hours or by appointment to discuss the course or their future career plans.
